Re: Something big
Interesting design, very visually different from the usual deathwedges.
Re: Something big
@CetaMan: Well, it's an Old Republic ship and not an Imperial one, so that's likely why.
@Fractal: Welcome back. Hope all is well IRL.

IIRC he's a teacher or something of the sort, and the US just went into summer break season. So that's probably why he's backAbacus wrote: @Fractal: Welcome back. Hope all is well IRL.

Comment still stands.
Looking forward to any projects you may be working on this summer, Professor Fractal.

Page or two back he mentioned it's an Old Republic ship TOR game era, IIRC.Rhadamantus wrote:Wow. What type is that?

Oh, it's that. Wow. Intimidating looking, though I wonder what is up with its firing arcs.

Man, great work there, Hsiao. I know it's from The Old Republic, but if I didn't know better, I would have assumed it was a ship from the Metroid Prime series.

Re: Something big
It's weird but actually pretty good... full armament coverage forward and aft, and across pretty much the entire ventral hemisphere. I'm putting a dorsal battery on it as well when I get there.Rhadamantus wrote: ↑2017-07-06 03:48pm Oh, it's that. Wow. Intimidating looking, though I wonder what is up with its firing arcs.
Re: Something big
For some reason, I think the lighting and angles, I get a much more intimidating sense of scale than I do with most of your posts.

Flounder. Halibut. Stingray?
(I dunno, it's making me think of flatfish for some reason...)
I forget, do you have some kind of naming convention for your Imperial ships?
Ooh, if you want a Star Wars style fish... Aiwha? Opee?

Batoid, as the superorder for rays is batoidea. It just needs a tail stinger
Nice one, did you post the data for that one yet ? The two ventral heavy guns look impressive on a corvette-sized vessel.

This has to be the first ship I can think of that has a FIXED weapon and not something on a turret... Don't see that often in star wars

The ventral ions (light MTL class) are gimballed - limited traverse to be sure but not fixed. The idea is that they'd be used on large targets or targets being pursued. So for the former the ship would maneuver, turn to bear, burst fire ion and turn away, and for the latter the ion would naturally be in arc for the pursuit.

Re: Something big
That certainly makes sense. And do not get me wrong, I actually quite like the look of it.
Would work very well for a pursuit vessel then to have weapons like that.

Re: Something big
A very large zerstoerer TIE. Two light turbolasers as primary armament. It's big and thus heavy, but enormously energetic to feed the turbolasers, so probably a little under Avenger performance. The name is a SWTOR reference, because I loved flying the Mangler and this is a similar concept. I was originally going to make this a StarWing chassis (like the Mangler's design ancestry), but I felt like a TIE series would be more thematically appropriate.

Oh WOW! I like it! That looks plant big and beefy, odd shape to it, with an outward bend instead on an inward bend.
