A roleplay?

I was considering a mix of the two, the Nids already incorporate DNA and useful elements from species they destroy, so having them assimilate Wraith technology and weaponry could work.

Because I'd very much like to do the Serenity crew from "Firefly", but I'd like to bring in someone from Star Trek too, and I had a couple OC ideas I floated earlier as well. I even have some others I haven't brought up yet- I don't think I'd want to do all of them, but I haven't quite settled on which ones yet.

The Trek force would be my main entry to the fleet battle, most likely, because my other ideas are more small-scale/ground level than something really suited to fleet actions (the ending of Serenity notwithstanding).

Though much as I said before, I'm planning to participate more in the form of loosely-connected stand-alone shorts than the longer stories I usually write, for practicality's sake.

Something with that Firefly-like feel to it, with the crew of some small freighter or transport, would be an interesting twist, to see how events might affect people who really don't care about the outcome one way or another, they just want to get through the day, make a couple bucks, and not get killed.

And a Trek & some original characters would be a lot of fun. I know I'll be posting (probably) some fairly long-winded stuff, so seeing some shorter snapshots from multiple perspectives would be cool too.

Well, my introductory post is up. For the OC universe anyways, when the time comes for the mega brawl I'll introduce Fleet Master Dimitri Kursk of the battleship Hellfire, ready to lead the charge against the force of Chaos.

Okay, I'll keep that all in mind.

If I pick two ideas to run with, it'll be something with Romulans, I think, and my OC customs agent character.

Question, what size/power are the pirate forces? I know you said assault carrier but how big/powerful is that? Is this something my ship can reasonably challenge alone or will I need backup and/or clever tactics?

Finally, where exactly are the jump-gates in respect to Central? In orbit? At Lagrange points? Elsewhere in the system? Is it 1 gate per other universe? Can I choose to have my ship emerge from a more distant gate to avoid running straight into a firefight?

You'll need firepower and clever tactics to take them on. The Acheron may be of a dated design, and you could surely take it on one-on-one, but with all the escorts it has, you'll get pulverized trying. Gotta thin the herd first, as it were. Individually, though, the pirate ships are even weaker than the Acheron. And yes, you can emerge wherever you like. Hope that helps!

That does help yes. How big a ship is the Acheron? Do I have free reign to engage directly or do I have to cooperate with other players?

EDIT: Also, how many escorts and what size/power are they?

The Acheron's an old assault carrier that was decommissioned and sold following the last big round of interstellar wars, so fairly big. Not as big as your Eternal Freedom, I'd say. I'd like to hold off on engaging it directly, at least at first, until we've reduced the number of escorts it has, and the number of raiders in near-orbital space. The pirates may have kicked over a hornet's nest, but they do have some teeth. And bear in mind, the planetary population is essentially at their mercy. If they decide to start tossing nukes or kinetic impactors, lots of people will get dead. But because participants individually outgun the pirate forces, we can afford to wear down their numbers.

That's fair. So, 2 km or so for the Acheron?

How big are the cruisers/destroyers and how many are there? What weapons do they use?

I'd go with one to one and a half kilometers for the Acheron, and it's the largest and most powerful individual ship in the pirate force. The rest are cruisers, destroyers, frigates, and raiders, armed with older-style nuclear-tipped torpedoes, railguns, and the previous generation of energy weapons, such as lasers and plasma weapons.

Ok that works. Can I say 1.5km for Acheron, 1 km for, say, 4 cruisers, 600 metres for a dozen destroyers and 300 metres for 20 frigates and three doze 150 metre raiders?
