Questions on monty python's holy grail

Post by FancyDarcy »

I just saw the monty python film yesterday and it was a blast! I was throughly impressed by the authentic atmosphere and realistic scenarios. One of the greatest medieval films I've ever seen (actually the only one lol).

However, the rather abrupt ending made me curious about a lot of things. Realistically speaking, how would the movie have ended if Ser Robin and his knights had killed the rabbit instead with a crossbow, and saved the holy grenade for later use?

I wonder about the holy grenade's actual effective ness, such as whether it could actually destroy any enemy in it's entirety, or if that was only a general guide recommended for the most likely foes. Ser Robyn might have used the holy grenade to breach the castle without summoning the army, thus preventing the police from interferring and such.

The police didn't interfere because Arthur summoned the army. They interfered because all of the knights were suspects in the murder of that historian. Using the hand grenade on the Castle Aaargh would have just added vandalism or destruction of property charges on top of all of that.
