Ever done the karaoke thing?
I went to one just minutes ago with some workmates. I sung only 2 songs:
1: I'm a Believer. I missed the first line, but got 75.
2: My Sharona. My timing was shit, but I got 100. WTF????????????
What songs have you tried?

Ah good 'ol Al...he makes the world of Karaoke bearable....I may have to go some places and sing "The Saga Begins" or "Another one rides the Bus"
As for having done karaoke* I've only done it once after a lot of drinking....quickly realising I hadnt drunk anywhere near enough as I belted out Eagles - Desperado.
*(Japanese for - ritual humiliation to music with the aid of alcohol, or so I think at least)

OK, now I KNOW that Korean karaoke machines are rigged to grant confidence to the musically handicapped.
I've just had some private practice in the singing bar (noraebang) down the corrridor from this PC room. For "I'm a Believer", "She Loves You", "Rock Star" and "Light My Fire", I scored in the 80s and 90s. For "Sweet Dreams Are Made of This", I scored 98. I'm only familiar with the Eurythmics version, but this was the Marylin Manson version, so his added bullshit caught me off guard. 98? And then there was another 100 for my patchy rendition of "My Sharona".
What standards are these machines measuring you by? Busker standards?

Those machines score you???
I've done it once I have to admit. It took a lot of Jamisons and a very relaxed/friendly atmosphere pub. I sang the male part of 'Love Shack' with my wife and some girl we met in the bar doing the female parts. We actually got quite the cheers. Apparently I do a pretty good impression of that B-52s guy.

It was my friend's birthday and I was badly drunk. We were sitting in a pub and I happened to browse through their catalogue of available karaoke songs and decided to give it a try. I sang "Paratiisi". My singing probably sounded awful and the timing was less than spectacular.
I have no information of how many pub visitors commited a suicide afterwards.

We had a karate machine at the company party last year. Some people piss me off and complain because I talk loud (not like I can fucking help it) so knowing they were outside and drunk as shit, I sung 'Alright Now' at the top of my god damn lungs. It wasnt the only song i sang that night.

My favourite Kareoke songs are:
Love Really Hurts Without You - Billy Joel
Build Me up Buttercup - The Foundations
Wonderwall - Oasis
Wicked Game - Chris Isaac
Four Seasons in one Day - Crowded House
Dust From a Distant Sun - Crowded House
and basically whatever catches my eye.

No, but I've been known to sing along with my walkman and play air guitar on the subway which makes everyone edge nervously away from me thinking that I'm a nutjob. It's a good way to get some personal space on a crowded subway during rush hour, but one of these days security might toss me in the loony bin if I overdo it.

Only when I'm in the shower. I'm loud, consistently off-key, and insist on replicating any instrument solos in the song I'm singing.
