I've decided to install RPM to help make my linux box LSB compliant. The problem is how do I make dummy RPMs to satisfy dependencies? Or is something like "virtual packages" the replacement for that?
Dammit they should have made Debian packages the LSB standard. Or I should have just compiled and used the LSB implementation- essentially ALFS w/ RPM and other stuff:

Nevermind, found instructions

Might be useful for anyone using RH or Mandrake.
Actually, exactly what is the point of me installing RPM? I don't see any LSB packages out there

Umm, I thought APT-RPM was distribution specific- I'm using plain LFS- since trying to install some missing packages on top of Coredistro resulted in dismal failure.
EDIT: I already have most deps installed, just don't want a broken RPM database. Figured out how to do it anyways.
The reason I'm using LFS is that there is nearly no backwards compatibility whatsoever in packages- even between point releases of RH . Everything is compiled with the latest libraries... And the LSB standard is at 1.2 already. How come people haven't started making LSB packages already?
Self packaging is annoying, since after trashing coredistro and using LFS, I don't have internet access downstairs, and the specfile documentation is dismal. Doesn't seem much of an issue though, since I can just run checkinstall to make dummy RPMs from now on.
