Ah yes, like that would not inspire flaming. And not just on this board, but all over.

Look at the reaction to those morons who have the "Troops Shoot Their Officers NOW!" posters...
Yes, it's flamebait, I don't want to start a frikking flame war on that, but I had to say it. Sorry!

I don't want to make excuses for those holding these stupid banners, but, fuck! Bush started it, he has to finish it, and I don't see why frikking why we should get ourselves into the mess he made!!!

Yes, in Québec, we have a proud tradition of disagreement with about any living organism on the planet. We even don't get along with ourselves! I think this is the allmark of a true free country, where not even two individuals would say the same thing.

But really, beside annoying other people, where's the pleasure in a godless Universe?

What can I said other than:

Good luck to all American and Iraki soldiers, you're all in deep deep trouble because of your leaders (but Saddam is still worst than Bush)...

The inertia of the Canadian government saved us from entering this war.

Welcome, Enricko, I haven't seen you before....

It doesn't bother me that Quebec has a different opinion, I only wonder why folks feel the way they do. Some people have good reasons for criticizing the war but a lot of the "protesters" really don't have anything worthwhile to say except "Bush sucks! America bad!" I don't mind real opinions, but chanting mindless garbage with no real thought behind it is a waste of time.

I support the war effort but I also admit that there are problems with the way the US administration has handled the situation.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Now 50 % of Canadians don't want to see their country go to war with Irak, don't you think the politicians should listen to them? Do those Canadians who want to support U.S. have another argument than: "It will hurt our trades with the Americains if we disagree with them"?

I never even thought of that one.

Is it just me, or does Enricko have a consistent problem with the spelling of countries' names? "Corea" and "Irak" do not exist on my maps, and I don't know any "Americains" either.

Koreans often identify their own country as "Corea"...you would have noticed it during the soccer World Cup over that last year (but then, you are American...).

As far as Iraq as concerned, the name is just a transliteration of an Arabic name, so different spellings exist...just witness: "Quran" "Koran" "Q'uran" etc...

That's all well and good, but if one is communicating in English, one is normally expected to use English, no?

Okay, that's all well and good and I said I was sorry for mis-spelling, but why should Canada support the US in what's clearly a war of aggression, where the liberation of the Iraqi people is only a by-product. Did the US listen when Canada told them to wait before going to war?

To be honest having the Maple Leaf on for the military campaign is not particularly high on my wish list. However getting our friends to the east onboard for the inveitable peacekeeping and rebuilding is a GOOD thing. Ottowa has an abundance of good will the world over that would be nice to tap to help the Iraqis make a decent state. If support for war is this high, I sincerely hope this means support for rebuilding and peacekeeping in Iraq will be higher, do our resident Canucks think this is likely? Of course I can never seem to understand Canadian politics; I still can't figure out on what planet Stockwell Day was viewed as a viable leader or when the final, binding Quebec referendum will come.

It's an oxymoron by definition. All wars are about agression of course.

But the term "war of agression" usually means a war that's launched with out justification. Essentially armed robbery writ large.

Canada said to the US that we were not going to war without the UN approval. The US didn't listen, they send soldiers and some of them were killed. It's not a reason for Canada to support this war.

Your saying this as if there aren't supposely any casualties in the first place. I MEAN ARE YOU DREAMING?!!!
There's always casualties. One way or the other.
It's not like if the Canadian forces were there..theywill help save the 4 soldiers at the checkpoint where they were killed by a car bomber and etc. etc etc.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

That's the whole frikking point!!!

Those Canadians who want to support the war say that now that there's US casualties, we should back the US unconditionally!

Everybody knew that casualties would happen!!! If we were anti-war before, we should stay anti-war now! Dead people or not!

Either that, or people who were sitting on the fence feel that a combination of loyalty to brethren and evidence of Saddam's quick resort to contemptible tactics (eg- pretending to surrender so they can kill their captors, firing on their own troops if they try to surrender, firing on their own civilians if they try to get food and water) has changed their minds. You are exaggerating the situation. The country is evenly divided because this is a difficult dilemma.
