Re: Something big
Yup, a few peeps remarked upon it a few pages back.
Most were in agreement it was pretty blatantly pulled from the Assertor Dreadnaught.

Yeah, but that was from an earlier issue. What I posted is from a more recent one with more views of that ship.

Oh Really? I figured was just more of the same.
Seems like another comic walking tiny fighters disabling a capital ship?

Re: Something big
I don't think they actually disabled it or even really intended to. On an earlier page, Han advised them to "nuzzle up against the destroyers," presumably to use them as cover against the TIE fighters.

Re: Something big
Yeah looks sorta like a Bellator, but different enough not to be the same ship.

Re: Something big
The frustrating thing is that they never show anything but close-ups of it. Are those enough for you to be able to extrapolate what the entire ship looks like though?fractalsponge1 wrote: ↑2018-09-30 02:45pm Yeah looks sorta like a Bellator, but different enough not to be the same ship.

Re: Something big
Oh yeah, that's not a problem. No idea of the ventral side or the extreme ends, but the available shots give a pretty good idea what it'd look like. Bellator with more pronounced terraces and greater proportion of volume in superstructure.

Re: Something big
That looks pretty much like the real thing. The comics ship is much more divergent but still it's basically a Bellator vibe design wise.

Re: Something big
Nope, and never did for any of the obviously SW ships, since that's all LFL/Disney derivative material anyway. True for anyone that tries to sell anything SW as well, including garage model kit builders and such - usually it's just that no one gets big enough to go after. I just stay out of it and do it as a hobby, but there are people that make a living making kits and such sans license. One guy made a cast kit of my released ISD model, errors and all (makes it easy to spot). It was a damn good looking kit though.

Re: Something big
Commissioned Tyrant missile cruiser WIPs.
Long and thin to minimize profile and a rotary heavy warhead system. I've taken that concept and developed it a bit, with the main missile battery in a fixed and separate annular compartment away from the hull. Power should end up being ~2-3 ISD, so barely a cruiser, which is fitting given the very thin hull (I expect the reactor to be fully buried). Fast, well shielded, but not a slugger.

Still, more than a match for poor Enterprise.
"Beware the Beast, Man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone amongst God's primates, he kills for sport, for lust, for greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him, drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of Death.."

Re: Something big
An intriguing design. Is the intention that the missile ring was essentially "tacked on" to an existing light cruiser design?
Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."

Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."

Re: Something big
I'm not sure, it's pretty seamless, and a big enough alteration that it looks like they'd have had to basically chop the original cruiser in half. Possible if you're starting with hulls still in the shipyard and not quite assembled, I suppose.Eternal_Freedom wrote: ↑2018-10-03 05:05pm An intriguing design. What intrigues me is if it's supposed to be rotary, and if so, how does that work considering the two sides are at an angle to each other, rather than at the same plane?
(never mind. I can't read. 'fixed and separate compartment')
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

Re: Something big
I should clarify, when I said it was a module "tacked on" I meant that it was a modification on an existing hull design rather than a purpose-deisgned hull. Like how the Immobilizer 418 Interdictors were based on the Vindicator frigate hull.

Re: Something big
Maybe could be a possibility of a modular task force Cruiser hull? I see some similarities in design profile.
