Peter Mayhew passed away April 30 2019

Post by Surlethe »

The family of Peter Mayhew, with deep love and sadness, regrets to share the news that Peter has passed away. He left us the evening of April 30, 2019 with his family by his side in his North Texas home.

RIP
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

May he rest in peace.

I'm dreading the day when the last of the old original trilogy stars is gone.

Sad in predictble news, the OT starts are in their 60s or 70s now so while it's not typical for people die that young it's not unheard of either. That said I think most major stars from the OT are in pretty good health, so we're not in the risk of loosing them any time soon.

Well, thus far we've lost Alec Guiness and Peter Cushing (many years ago, as they were older), Kenny Baker, Carrie Fisher, and now Peter Mayhew.

I truly hope that it is many years before we lose another.

It might be worth noting that people of extreme height tend to die younger than average - in which case Mayhew making it into his 70's is a pretty good run. (Most common cause of the very tall dying is heart failure... which also got Mayhew).

Harrison Ford is in pretty good health, as is Mark Hamill as far as I know. Both of those men could live into their 80 (or longer, with some luck). James Earl Jones, the Voice of Vader, is still around and have been dealing with diabetes for decades. I don't really follow anyone else from the original trilogy, although a quick google shows that David Prowse, the Body of Vader, is in his 80's and suffering health problems so I wouldn't be surprised if he passes in the near future. But I'd be happy to be wrong. Anthony Daniels (C3PO) is still around and in his 70's.

Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.- Malcolm Reynolds, Captain of Serenity, which sums up my feelings regarding the lawsuit discussed here.

Goodbye Chewbacca... miss you, I will. :*(
fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1
