American Gladators!

Post by Mr Bean »

Anyone remeber this old show? You know back in the mid 80s-early 90s and they still show-reruns on TNT, Kind of a weaker but smarter Version or Wreastling with the Gladators fighting people who where realy fit for cash and prices.... Or somthing I'm not sure, But they had lots of colorful and overall FUN AS HELL looking events where these very fit people would do everything from climb very large walls while the Gladator tried to throw em off.

To the best of the best, the Gantlet which was a huge open air with tiny *stations with Nerf weapons at each where the person had to run from station to station and try and nail a big Target at the end, except there was little cover and under the target was an Gladator with the ultimate of non-lethal fun weapons, The Tennis Ball Cannon. Most of the show lead up to this point despite it acutal ended with the *Elminatetor which was a another fun looking event wiht Zip lines, Bycile lines and Cargo Nets but mostly the show lead up to that Gantlet, It was the show that promted being Fit(As it seemed you had to be insane otherwise to take on those Gladators, Not any good values where assoated with it(Besides that Tennis Cannon, I think it was a value... sorta)

Oh left out one event, the Joust, realy big Mat and above it are two tiny pilliars with two 1 meter circular platforms and about four eachs from each other, each person stands on one and wails on the other guy first one to fall wins :D

Well who has seen the show and remeber those good old times?

Oh I remember the show and those sweet female gladiators or should I say gladiatrixes!

I always enjoyed the football/wrestling hybrid game. It was always funny to watch those 250 lb shaved gorillas just smash the contestants. The show was a good concept but it just couldn't crack the popularity of wrestling.

Well, we had an Australian version here, which was much the same, although I don't remember the Tennis Ball Cannon. I'm not sure if we even had it.

BUt then again, we are a poor, backwards country, so perhaps we just lacked the technology and sophistication to have such a marvel.

Yeah I remember it. It got old after "Two Scoops" kept kicking EVERYones' asses. They should of made him a gladiator. That little black guy destroyied the show. Well the producers that kept bringing him on did most of it, but still, I blame him. Also I remember the last season they kept advertising a playboy bunny version they never played. Pissed me off, but I'm older now and realize it wasn't gonna show anything. I always thought the one where they ran around in the steel balls was cool.

They never seem to know how to do the Joust correlty, the idiots always start side blows when the first thing they should do is a hard jab strait in, The big Foam part lets you leveage all your weight aginst them and shove them off before you can, You see the Male Gladators do it all the time yet the females never quite catch on and it almost seems like suprise when they manage to get the other lady.

The only thing that show did for me was the Nerf Gun assault thingy. And currently, I am the owner of the largest privately held Nerf gun collection in my end of the city. Even obviously crappy Nerf guns like the ones that take eighteen years to load and fire only one round with all the accuracy of a kamikaze elephant in a pinto.
