Wong getting challenged

Post by Ender »

Found this off a link at that weird ass SWvsST page that was posted. Guy seems to be trying to set himself up as a counter to Saxton.

Anywho this is the real interesting bit.

I know I've seen the nick Echelon before...

Echelon? You mean Chris O'Farrell's evil anti-Warsie android version 2.0?

This guy is making up problems in the commentary:
in the first "Point Of Contention", as he calles it, Mr.Wong wonders why they seem to deccelerate to low warp upon entering a system (when speed is of the essence), and speculates that it may be dangerou or impossable withing the star system, to which this guy replys:
False, the head Cultist's view point pure fabrication, bias revealed.
"head cultist" ( )
[/quote]Refer to VGR "The Hunters", Warp within the graviton influence of a Black hole.
which means it is possable, not neccisarily good for the engines, and may have other inherint dangers (I'm not too familliar with the VOY Episode, but I'm guessing it was an emergency if they were in a black hole.
It's only a question of choice, for Picard's part.
Which begs the question, if speed is of the essence, why "choose" to move in so slowly?

the second "POC" is on this commentary by Mr.Wong:
Limitations of propulsion: it appears to be standard procedure to use warp drive only outside of a star system. This suggests that there are dangers involved with using warp drive inside star systems, although it can be done, as seen earlier in this episode.
to which he replies:
Refer to VGR Message in a Bottle, Warp within the graviton influence of a Black hole.
Refer to VGR's initialization of warp drive with in a star system.
He did not say warp was impossable, simply not SOP inside a star system.
It's a choice that Picard uses, nothing more and nothing less.
Which once again begs the question, why did he chose to add all the time spent wallowing at sublight to the journey?
The person who wrote that statement even contradicted himself .
Speaking of points of pure fabrication... the closest I could come to seeing a contradiction was saying it is not SOP to initiate warp within a star system, then noting that it was possable.

Mr. Wong comments that a low level (sublight) warp field would result in the "same weaknesses as warp drive" to which he replies:
Refer to VGR "The Hunters", Sub-warp within the graviton influence of a black hole is initated..
Refer to VGR's initialization of warp drive with in a star system
Which has nothing to do with anything
As for the statement of "vulnerability to various forms of interference fields", without mentioning the specific the "interference field" the statement is basically useless
I think it us pretty obvious he is refering to interfierence fields affecting warp drives (it was to me anyway...)
Safety hazards" is a pure fabrication
So then why doesn't picard want to activate warp drive within a star system (as noted above)?
This is term exist called "warp field masking", use for hiding "warp signatures"
He is refering to the part or Mr. Wong's commentary about "sharply increased visibility to enemy sensors" when using warp, which is noted in the sensor section of the database.

He concludes the document with:
Concluding comments:
~Systematic fabrication of fallacies stems from the fact that the author assumed the bias view points.
~The measuring stick that Mr Wong uses will be also applied to his statements.
~The purpose of this page is to show Mr Wong's past misdeeds, bias and lacking objectivity in a public manner. There will not attempt to silences this information, everyone has the right to know, a basic human rights under the United States and Australian law.
~This page does not recognize the authority of ASVS's rules and regulations.
to which I would reply:
1.This "systematic fabrication of fallacys" being 3 points which are not in fact fallacys
2. another  for good measure.

Where did you find this guy?

The site is not nearly as good as either Wong's or Saxton's. In fact, it falls for many of the same failings that DarkStar's site had. It just is not quite so large, and so it does not provide me with the material necessary to really tear it apart like a Kleenex at a snot party. :D

ROTFLMAO!!!

Out of nearly 900 entries, this guy can only make these three feeble criticisms?

People often ask why I don't spend much time attacking my critics lately. The answer (apart from "I have better things to do") is that they are frankly pathetic. When Darkstar is your biggest critic, what is there to worry about? I'll deal with him sooner or later, but I'd rather look forward to new developments.

Darth Wong, you really have nothing to worry about unless the American education system continues to degrade. Then it might be possible for there to be enough complete idiots that you would have to defend yourself against even the least rational critics. Don't worry, though, that won't be at least for another generation. As far as DarkStar goes, I am glad to see you are giving his arguments all of the careful thought and attention that they deserve.

He sure has his sources twisted on that one. In Hunters, Janeway orders a subspace field activated around Voyager, before she destroys the thing keeping the black holes Gravity in check, implying (as in Generations) that a subspace field isolates something from strong gravitational effects to a degree. But they pulled away on Impulse power and the subspace field was very clearly said to be 'Sublight energy levels'. Nothing about going to warp drive...

Critics are one of the few lesser humans that believe they can gain respect or notoriety by putting down others. I pay no attention to them, their psychological insecurities would be all too easy to point out. :)
