When is it time to overthrow the government?

When do you believe a populace should revolt against a government grown tyrannical? At what point does a government become intolerable and irredeemable in it's present form?

Seriously, that's a tough question. I guess it depends on how much freedom the populace in question is willing to sacrifice for security. Some societies are going to have a higher rights-violation threshold than others.

I believe Jefferson or one of the founding fathers said about every 17 years... so according to him we've been due a new one for quiet some time... maybe I'll start the revolution!!!... ... ... I'll get around to it tommorow...

You participate in a society ultimately for your own benefit. Anytime you feel the gov't no longer has your interest in mind, you might have a right to revolt. If you win, you'll be called a revolutionary, if you lose you'll be a dead criminal. The victor gets to write history. However, most people just move, it's easier.
