Doesn't sound as good as "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness", I agree. Mind you, it's also more achievable, since "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" defines unachievable ideals (total liberty being anarchy, and the individual pursuit of happiness not always dovetailing with the next guy's pursuit of happiness).
