Interesting Question.
I have a random thought ~ what would happen if someone pulled a prank with the stock market, in general? Ideas?

From what I have learned, they all are, but they tend to follow trends. So, say some stocks are going up, and all of a sudden there's this prank pulled, and they're made to be going down.. what would happen in an instance like that, when the stocks are still going up? [has weird references to 1984]Lagmonster wrote:I dunno, some kind of Enron-type-deal? I've assumed that a lot of trading values and deals were based on a dare, anyway.

Re: Interesting Question.
People do this all the time already. There are documented cases of employees and stockholders pretending to have inside info and posting it on various stock & business related websites or message boards. There was a case a couple years ago where some guy was hyping up a stock on an influencial message board, which resulted in a buying spree and a massive profit for the guy. He got busted and charged as I remember it and had to pay a bunch of fines and may have been tossed in jail.verilon wrote:I have a random thought ~ what would happen if someone pulled a prank with the stock market, in general? Lusankya: Deal!
Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

Nono.. I mean in the SE itself... and on a major scale (as opposed to the above example)aerius wrote:People do this all the time already. Re: Interesting Question.
Well there was that scene in "Trading Places" where Eddie Murphy and the other guy falsified information and then completely screwed up the FCOJ prices on the commodities exchange in the NY stock exchange. Outside of a movie, I don't know, but I like to think it'll be something like that movie....verilon wrote:Nono.. I mean in the SE itself... and on a major scale (as opposed to the above example)
