If it was an April Fools I'd say its one of the best constructed April fools jokes ever.

The sheer amount of personalities they got in on it...

I saw one on fox a while ago myself, the thing is that if they spent billions of dollars on this project how come there are so many bloopers? That is among questions like: If this is true where did the Astronauts go in that rocket, would all the amateur astronomers who followed the progress as well be wrong? And why hasn't someone credible in the government leaked this out, or for that matter the man who controlled the lighting, or the sound, or the sfx, or the coffee/donut deliveries come out about this? Considering the government can never keep a secret that last one should be more then enough to sink this.

You'll have to forgive my skepticism - one thing I never thought I would be dealing with on SD.Net is moon hoaxers - but where can I see Donald Rumsfeld and Henry Kissinger both saying that the moon landing was faked?

Its been revealed that it was all one big April Fools joke, but DAMN, it was an impressive one.

They had interviews with (these are the ones I remember the names of)

Buzz Aldrin,
Henry Kissinger,
Richard Helms,
Donald Rumsfeld,
General Haig,
David (?) Engleberg,
Stanley Kubricks widow,

and countless other NASA, government, CIA and military officials. Not to mention all the incidentals like the village of Vietnamese where the CIA agents holed up.

Very very very very well done April Fools joke that held up the realism brilliantly.

I will admit that I was fooled, until the last few minutes where they had the "out takes".

10 points to SBS.

What they were saying though is that they landed on the moon, but that the pictures shown were taken in a studio in England...

Anyhow, its apparently all a big April fools joke that took in everyone that watched it. And the best part is, what better cover for the conspiracy do you need, than saying: "Hahahhaa! April Fools!" - which incidentally, they never did.

Anyone remember why it was he knocked that reporter a good 'un? Did it have something to do with the 'moon conspiracy' deal?
Some looney (he got a package devoted to him on The Daily Show) confronted Aldrin and asked him to swear on a Bible that he went to the Moon. Aldrin instead socked him one :)

Ask the crew of:

Apollo 8

Apollo 9

Apollo 10

Apollo 11

Apollo 12

Apollo 14

Apollo 15

and Apollo 16

If we went to the moon... Heck Ask 13 too... They, (just like their commander did on 8) went around the moon in a free return trajectory... The surface only kilometers below.

Yeah. We went to the moon... and though expensive, it wasn't really that hard.

People are forgetting that the "doco" argued that though the missions to the moon went well, the actual images transmitted back by Apollo 11 didn't work, so the fall-back plan conceived of weeks ahead where images from the set of 2001 were used instead...

As an Australian, I resent that :P

Our pics remember... PKS station. Full deflection because Armstrong wanted to go early. Our boys had to put the o'l PKS radiotelescope right down to the horizon to pick up from the moon. That's why the pictures were so crap. had he waited an extra 2 hours, those pics would have been as clear as day.

It was confirmed by Donald Rumsfeld, Henry Kissinger, Richard Helms, General Haig and others that the moon landing was staged by CIA people on the set of Stanley Kubrick's 2001, directed by Kubrick...

Why? Because they weren't sure whether or not the pictures from the moon would be able to be shown. They weren't, so the images that everyone has seen were faked.

Interesting stuff.
Good old April Fools day :)

Y'know, though, it's neat how the CIA used sets that Kubrick had destroyed right after filming. (Kubrick destroyed everything from 2001, all the models, sets--everything except the film, cameras, and maybe actors, LOL.)

Very interesting indeed :)

Earlier in the thread somebody mentioned tin hats, while those are
funny, I find it even more amusing to hear some people actually
line the attics of thier house with tin foil to stop mind controlling radio
waves from putting ideas into thier heads while they sleep

Yeah, tell that to Buzz Aldrin, he'll just bust you in the face.

Anyone remember why it was he knocked that reporter a good 'un? Did it have something to do with the 'moon conspiracy' deal?
He hit Bart Sibro (sp?), when he walked up to Buzz and asked him to swear on the Bible that he realyl went tot he moon. When Buzz refused, Sibro said something like: "You, sir, are a liar and a thief, and..."

Personally, I would've hit him as well :P

I consider is a prudent safety measure. And they aren't literally radio waves. Some aspects of their operation are coincidentally similar, that's all.

Liars. The set of 2001 looked very different from the apollo pics. As Arthur C Clarke himself has said "we got the rocks wrong."
