*blink* Uhm. Ah, Durran, you realize the context?

Hehe. I grew up in Oregon, so I know what you mean. Man, I would have loved to see what you were like in college. No offense, but I bet you threw quite a few of them for a loop. :D

Maybe I'm missing something.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

After the Jessica Lynch thread I don't think even your ideological compatriots are going to call you "polite".

Birkenstockers is a reference to the pot-smoking ultra-leftwing hippie types that infect where the Duchess went to college. It's a referense to the fact that they're always seen wearing berkenstocks or other sandles, I think.

The Washington/Oregon/NoCal Middle Class/College liberal lifestyle involves patronage of Birkenstock. I was railing against "Birkenstockers" in my hypertensive mania as a reformed liberal who had spent time in that region. *grin*

Oh, understood. But Birkenstock is an eeeeeeevil corporation, they have no business wearing their shoes, being so principled and all.

Thank you. That was less kind than what I'd written; I like that.

It's best not to point that out to them. Most of the time you can hear the screams as their brains try to cope with it. Usually they also get angry.

So pictures of you marching down mainstreet in Hobart with a rifle and a red banner to seize the local government offices as you sing the Internationale will not be appearing shortly in my paper? *g*
Errrr... those were photo-shopped.

Yeah, I have ideological compatriots?! Since when? Last I checked, both Ghandi and King were dead.

Ok, yes, that thread was tasteless. I had heard reference to it earlier on another thread, and it didn't get flamed, so I figured it would be at least semi-kosher. But it wasn't, and I apologize for the offenses occurred to any and all POW-sensitive members of SD.net for the critical taboo on my part. Fear not, shame is slowly starting to settle in as I am (rightly) getting it from some of my friends.

I just wanna know who the other person was who voted for "hot."

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

I like Queeb and Ando. You guys have alternate points of view that are accompanied by thought. I am slowly (yet tentatively) extending this to Stas Bush as well, although the jury is still out. And I tend towards Hameru, who also tends to think about his position rather than being knee-jerk. Arthur Tuxedo as well.

Still, we all know that folks like me and the Duchess are correct, and see the alternate point of view simply as a means to check how far fom the "odd path" we maintain our course...

Joke, guys, joke.

Later...

Aww, coyote... I'm touched.

...Touched like a little boy in a confessional...

But still touched. (Oh, lighten up and laugh at it. No one's looking.)
