Spoiler
No Xs in the eyes and she landed right next to a pair of paladins. Sunny will be fine. Bloodfeast, not so much.
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

Spoiler
Hopefully, the Dragon will just cast a Charm or Dominate spell on Bloodfeast, so that when Sunny gets back, he'll have an Allosaurus ally. Otherwise, Belkar is about to Halfing Barbarian RAGE

Sometimes, V has just the right spell at just the right time. :)

Broken jaw at least, or should be. Critical roll for damage :)

It also leaves Bloodfeast starting the round in a red dragon's jaws.

You mean the red dragon with a now broken jaw, can't use it's breath weapon for a bit, that is about to topple backwards with an Allosaurus sitting on it's head and broken jaw?

I don't think Bloodfeast has a serious problem right now.

Belkar's pet-food budget, however, just took a rather serious hit....

That's also why people used to polymorph dangerous critters, and then throw them at people.

I remember one NPC from 1e/2e, from the Forgotten Realms. She was the lover of the leader of the Flaming Fist Merc company in Baldur's Gate. She used to carry around at least one black pudding polymorphed/turned into a bidded earing. If she got in serious trouble, she'd toss the earing at them, and hit it with dispel magic. And since she was the one that transformed the pudding, well, the dispel always worked.....

Imagine carrying around a bunch of polymorphed slimes and oozes in a bag of holding to throw at people. (Just also have a bunch of burburs also ready, just in case...)

Or other monsters turned into stuff.
i.e Stuff that petrififes with their gaze or breath, and you're immune to that attack....
Dump the bag, and do a 'Greater Dispel Magic' burst on them.

Better then Pokeballs and Summoning Spells

Well he's certainly 'a' villain but more of a last minute speed bump to ware down the party a little before reaching the final boss.

So far I'm not sure narratively what his function is. He could be showing off how powerful the team is now if they drop him without to much effort or maybe he's to prevent the whole final battle entirely so that why the order is killing him team evil have already made it to the final gate.

Well for one thing he's probably Sereni's comeuppance and will serve to prevent the Order from benefiting from her knowledge and expertise going into the finale.

Finale Battle of the Comic, or Final Battle of this Story Arc?

Same thing. This is the final story arc. We still seem to have an awful lot of stuff between Red cloak, Xykon and the snarl to go.

There was a hint for more with the 'world/worlds beyond the Rift' vision, and even the gods being puzzled.

Although the books have been getting progressively larger as we go along so this could end up a thousand pager for all we know.

Imagine carrying around a bunch of polymorphed slimes and oozes in a bag of holding to throw at enemies. And having some burrowing creatures ready as backup is smart too. You could also polymorph monsters that petrify with their gaze or breath, and if you're immune to that attack, you could just dump the bag and use a 'Greater Dispel Magic' burst to unleash them. Using dispel magic to turn them back would be a total game-changer in a fight. Definitely more creative than just using Pokeballs or summoning spells

The amount of damage a spellcaster (or similar) can do, within the rules, is in direct relation to how creative the player, and how much of the rules they've read.

And if the DM happens to allow dozens/hundreds of supplementary books.....

Realistically, after his breath weapon, he should have just tried to leave. At the latest, when the Allosaurus was revealed.

Yeah I think mechanically speaking Calder is dead. I don't think he's done, but whatever he does next is more of a cut scene event than part of the fight
