This is a totaly different case. The VFX was designed for the average viewer. It was not designed for people who would disect it like this. The fact that the tower was completely blacked out rather then showing it exit the cloud of debri and then the captain is shown to fade out after being very scared clearly indicates the intent of the scene. Of this there is no doubt. However, as I said before the VFX also contradicts its own intent. We must take the VFX for exactly what it is if there is no direct contradiction. Thus the ISD command tower survived even though that was not the intent.SPOOFE wrote:The average viewer also thinks that Canada is the 51st state. I'd recommend that we not use the "average viewer" as a yardstick. You are wrong. You ask any average viewer at the theaters if the tower survived and they will say no.

No, you are wrong, see I can do that too.Alyeska wrote:You are wrong
No they won't, they'd say they where not sure, but it looks like it took a pounding, thats what they will say.You ask any average viewer at the theaters if the tower survived and they will say no
I don't think so, I think the intent was to see it being hit and taking a pounding. The intent was to portray it destoyed.
STARFIELD?!?Had they wanted to make it known the tower survived they would not have blacked out all color on the tower to hide it with the starfield.
There is no starfield there, thats debris flying away from the impact site, hell I knew that when I first saw Star Wars(I was like 10) that those wheren't stars, how the hell anyone who's not half-blind can say those are stars is utterly fucking beyond me.
Not to mention the Executor blocks out all stars behind the bridge tower...........
Nor do stars travel away from each other at such speeds.

Gee. They show an asteroid impacting the command tower. The command tower is COMPLETELY BLACKED OUT so that it will not be seen through the debries of the asteroid impact. They fade out before you can actually see what is going on. The scene then cuts to the Captain supossedly dying. The intent of the scene was clear. If they wanted to show the command tower survive they would not have cut out the scene. The fact of the matter is the command tower is visible for less then a quarter of a second and it requires watching the scene repeatedly just to spot it even when you know what you are looking for.
I am not desperate. I am stating fact. The intent of the scene was to show the bridge destroyed. The VFX department screwed up.

You keep on stating that the intent was clear, it wasn't, if the intent was clear we would not be having this discussion.
I never knew for sure what happened there when I saw it, I never had any supernatural feeling that said the intent of it being to destroy it.
Heck even the captain blocking out doesn't look like the ship is actually being destroyed.
Intent my ass.

Then kindly explain why the scene cuts out before the asteroid debries can clear up and why the coloring on the ISD tower is blacked out.His Divine Shadow wrote:You keep on stating that the intent was clear, it wasn't, get over it, if the intent was clear we would not be having this discussion.

Why do I have to explain that? Are you implying that if I don't explain it that you are somehow right? WTF kinda logic is that?Alyeska wrote:Then kindly explain why the scene cuts out before the asteroid debries can clear up and why the coloring on the ISD tower is blacked out.
This is bullshit, I don't even see why it means anything, at all, just because you've attributed some made up idea to it doesn't mean I have to disprove it or it'll be right.
Christ... I've been saying that alot lately and I'm an atheist.

(as before will have to right click save as)
This ones in slow motion, it's much easier to pick out the neck of the command tower moving through the debris cloud.
