Advice on computer issue

Post by paladin »

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X670E-E
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
Old Graphics Card: EVGA Geoforce GTX 1060
New Graphics Card: ASUS Geoforce RTX 4060

I'm looking for some advice about a computer issue. I recently upgraded my computer's graphics card from the GTX 1060 to the RTX 4060. After upgrade, my computer wouldn't start. The only items that power up are the LED lights on the motherboard and RAM. I double checked all connections and tried again. Same result as before. Assuming the issue was with the new graphics card, I put the old card back in the computer and it still wouldn't start. Only the LED lights on the motherboard and RAM would light up.

At this point, I think the issue is with the power supply but any other advice or troubleshooting ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for any help.

Why are you thinking it's a power supply issue ?

The LED lights tell me that you're getting power to the motherboard. Are there any lights on it that used to light up that are remaining dark ?

If you can track down a manual for your motherboard, look up how it displays error codes on boot.

The motherboard does have Q-code LED and Q-LEDs which light up and show status during start up and operation. Both remain dark after pushing the start button, which also remains dark.

Some lights on the motherboard are lit, others are not. That sounds like a motherboard problem.

When I went over to Microcenter, the sales guy had the same conclusion about the motherboard being the issue.
