Continuing in the vein of fundies using diseases and catastrophes as excuses to attack their enemies (particularly their AIDS => gays platform), I patiently await their declaration that SARS is God's righteous punishment upon sinners who make the poor lifestyle choice of constant, promiscuous breathing of air.

I'm laughing at their poor grasp of reality.

The disease is more dangerous than we first thought, it has infected at least 1500 in over 12 countries and killed 60.

If it is divine retribution, it's after us all regardless of ethnicity or religion.

I think it might be more of them trying to say that it's the Asian's offense of being of different religions. As strange as they are, sometimes, I wouldn't put it past the fundamentalists to say that. Arguing with a fundamentalist is only slightly more rewarding than removing your nails with a bolt cutter and etching your name into your eyeballs with a razor blade.

I ignore them to be honest, I gave up debating them after GP4Teens, I can only hope that the disease known as Stupidity doesn't infiltrate my blood-brain barrier.

How the fuck does the screening work in Canadian airports,i`ve just heard this,a young Canadian citizen came back from a trip to an asian country,first stop Vancouver no screening,second stop Ottawa still no screening,last stop Montreal same thing.
and they wonder how the desease came in the country.

Well if the Canadian government gets bogged down by potential cases and then an outbreak occurs, sucks to be them. If this does turn into a Spanish Flu level pandemic, heads will roll.

In Hong Kong, where they have good medical facilities, yes. So far. Hundreds of people have required a lot of medical attention, though. This disease could easily have a very high mortality rate in Third World countries.

I swear (haha! Some religious fanatics I've known thought that expression in itself meant affrontery to God!), I actually met a guy that said AIDS was sent by God to exterminate all homosexuals.

What's worse, this guy was very effeminate; I was pretty sure he himself was gay. Far worse is that he did very well in school and was otherwise a fairly intelligent, decent person...he was simply brain-washed, incapable of thinking outside the paradigmal box his parents had put him in.

I asked him why God, who is supposedly incapable of mistakes, could not foresee that AIDS would kill non-homosexuals. He didn't have an answer.

I also seem to recall that Jesus was quick to say, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Why, then, are these Christian bigots so quick to judge others' "lifestyles"? Are they now omniscient, capable of judging a person's character, themselves? They would say no; they're not omniscient, they're simply "calling it as they see it" according to Biblical parameters. That's cute...but what about "Judge not, lest ye be judged?" Or "Let he who is without sin..."?

Stupid hypocrite pig fuckers. They really give all religious people (which...well, sorta does, sorta doesn't include me) a really bad name.
(You know what's almost as bad? I might have some very distant relation to Pat Robertson. Gulp...)

Considering the major fucking it's doing to hospitals and GPs and the paranoi and the fact that the Asian stockmarket is writhing from the effects of all this, who needs it to be like Ebola?

Meanwhile we can all point out that europe was nearly wiped clean of humanity thanks to christian beliefs. they thought cats were the deviles creature so they killed cats which were the only stop break on bubonic plague and in doing so got nearly the whole of europe killed. GO SATAN!

It's a great irony that the major threat now to our airlines is airborne itself and capable of being carried by all on a flight.

The Chinese gov't has fucked up big time with trying to conceal this bug, you can't bribe a virus to keep quiet.

You have to admire its simplicity though. It's a billionth our size and beating us.

I'm sure the fundies are going to spend many sleepless nights trying to find a certain group to blame SARS on, and few more to find an excuse in case someone like them gets the virus.

They'll also need to find the most and least logical explanations for the virus, so they can take the least likely explanation and say it caused the virus.
