"Oh you'll pray!"

Post by Shrykull »

Have you ever had this said to you by a fundie or devout Christian, that there are times where everyone prays (even atheists) when they are trouble, like if you were in a crashing plane, or your parachute was malfunctioning, I saw this Christian tell an atheist that he saw someone just like him, with his attitude toward religion pray when his daughter was clinging to life in the hospital. They think secretly everyone believes in god.

They're right. Anytime I have trouble in the cockpit, the first thing I do is pray to Satan. I have yet to crash, ain't Satan great?

That's bullshit. I haven't prayed in years. Nor will I. Hell, if I'm ever faced with that kind of a situation, I'd be more inclined to NOT pray. After all, God created evil.

Or is it that Evil created God?

My granfather is currently in the hospital with cancer. He's got about a month to live, if the doctors are right. I'm not praying.

I think this fights this "argument" nicely.

Someone who's about tog die themselves will probably be more likely to pray than someone else who is about to die.

Still, more people probably "pray" after hitting their fingers with a hammer, reading something really fucked up, or having sex.

I think that’s a cultural ting.

I am under a shitload of pressure right now any I am ”praying” that things are not as I think it is.

But I still don’t believe in any god.

It’s just a way for me to express my wish.

I haven't prayed since kindergarden, and that was when I wanted an SNES...
