Flawed reasoning. Cows are lower down the food chain then we are. You assume superiority over the people you must kill to survive.

Cows are only lower on the food chain because we, as a culture, make the value judgement that they are a food source, and its therefor ok to slaughter and eat them, wear their skins ect....
IF, I joined the ranks of the vampirekin, you as a normal human would then become my prey and food source, I'd consume you with no more remorse than I do now eating a steak. It's unreasonable to assume that a vampire must kill its prey, because the human body can replenish blood and because the wounds from vampire fangs are not necessarily of a fatal nature (even if not somehow sealing, they do not need to be in a fatal location). Alternatively, any medical blood which can be transfused into a human body is - by definition - of sufficient quality to be consumed by a vampire.

That considered, of course I'd take the deal.

I voted No, because the scenario involves murder, which I wouldnt do. Now, if it didnt kill them, then sure. Hell, I can think of a friend who'd volunteer to be food for me in that case.

1. Humans have a level of sentience far above that of cows. Think about it, how many cows have discussions like this? (Hey, would you become a human if you had to eat hamburgers to survive?) Vampires experience no functional increase in sentience.
2. What about a vampire acting like Doctor Kevorkian? Giving a peaceful, relatively painless, quick death to people doomed to die from old age, cancer, etc. Certainly no shortage of old people in the world, if it did need to come to that.
3. Why would you need to kill a potential donor? Take a bag of blood, heat it up, hell, put it in a real doll or something, then feast away. Sure, you'll burn through the stuff faster than a M*A*S*H unit, but so long as there are enough donors, giving a pint a month every month or so, there's no reason to kill people.

However, it depends on the limitations of being a vampire. What weaknesses are there? Sunlight? Garlic? Holy Symbols/Water (what about atheist vampires)? Stakes? Silver? Normal water? Can you have kids? Will they be vampires? Could you even have sex in the first place, much less have a sex drive?

I don't think i could kill another person in that manner. I don't think i'd have a problem killing a person if he or she was threatening my life or that of someone i care about. But to coldly kill another person for personal gain is wrong. and besides living forever means that you have to watch all the people you care about wither and die. I don't think my sanity could take immortality. Remember the lesson of Leto the Tyrant. Long life makes things very boring.

Seeing as how nobody, and I mean NOBODY has ever lived a life much longer than 100 years, much less a life where the majority of it is in their prime like with immortals/vampires, there is no possible way to know for certain that a long life would, in fact, be boring. All arguments like that come from people who want to help make themselves feel better about their own mortality.

If I were to die tomorrow, I could accept that. I wouldn't like it, and I would have liked to live a lot longer than just twenty-one years, but I could accept it. There's always more to live for, more to do, more to experience. Anyone who says otherwise is usually too far down their own personal pigeonhole to realize how absurd that position is.

-How often i have to feed
-What i will look like. Nosferatu? No thanks. Smooth, suave mystery dude who picks up hot chicks every minute? Sign me up!
-Will i get any vampire powers, for eg. strength, speed, mind reading, etc. ?
-Will some slayer (Blade, Buffy, etc) be constantly trying to kill me?
-Will i have a "soul"?

And many other questions that i will think of.

The problem is that you are a human *now*, and that you (as a human) are wishing to enter a state in which you kill humans. You want to great a scenerio in which humans die to benefit someone else. The fact that you will lack remorse as a vampire has nothing to do with it, its simply a consequence of your action as a human. As a human you should try to avoid putting yourself in such a situation.

It is not moral for us to allow great white sharks to eat humans, even though these sharks lack remorse. It is required that we, as a society, strive to prevent shuch things from happening.

I like blood anyway, get to live forever? Hmm.....where is my downside?
There are many options for moral feeding offered already here, the old and the terminally ill for one.....the "evil" and the "stupid" aswell......
We eat animals because we are omniverious and we have developed that such things are part of where we sit in the food chain......we also eat plants.....I have no problem taking whatever sustenace it is that my body requires, there is nothing inherently evil about eating to survive or everyone is irrevocably evil anyway......to kill to survive is part of nature.
