Twice an Exxon Valdez spill worth of oil seeps into the Gulf of Mexico every year, according to a new study that will be presented January 27 at the Ocean Sciences Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.

That last post brings a happy picture to my head. I remember watching a show on TV where they shot birds thru running jet engines and filmed it in super slo-mo. It was pretty cool watching the birds get chopped into 1" thick slices by the fan blades, and all the slices would still be moving in the same direction after getting diced up. Damn cool show, too bad they didn't show what happens after the birdies get sucked into the hot part of then engine.

The whole killer birds bit reminds me of that scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where Henry Jones brings down a Nazi fighter by scattering a flock of sea gulls into the path the fighter. That was funny.
