So the Knight and his wife encounter a bandit in the forrest.

The Knight is dead, The Wife claims rape, what really happened.

The Wife Claims that Her husband was a total Failure and the Bandit Raped her.

The Bandit claims that he Beat the Knight in a fair battle and that the Wife was the spoils of the battle

The Knight's Ghost claims that the Bandit killed him with Trickery, and the Wife offered her body in an attempt to save him, thus disgracing his honor.

The Peasant who witnessed the incident from hiding, claims that the whole scene was entirely different.

So which person was telling the truth

Who can be trusted to tell the truth.

Does Truth exist

The peasant. IIRC, he was the only one that was not directly involved in the incident. He really doesn't have a reason to lie about it. (But it has been about 5-6 years since I saw Rashomon).
