I saw you yesterday as you began your daily


chores.

you to get even with God.


He kicked me out of heaven,


and I'm going to use you as long as

Not to mention that Jesus gave the impression of being a practicing Socialist, if not a Communist.

Certainly, but therein lies the difference. Both outlooks are autocentric, but they take different approaches. Capitalism's outlook is "Take care of yourself," and true to that outlook, Capitalists take care of themselves, or take care of others from the standpoint of "making an investment." Socialism's outlook is, "We will take care of you." but in order to manage the affairs of an entire nation, the entire nation must be made manageable. In order for this to happen, as much human unpredictability as possible must be eliminated, and the only way to do this is to eliminate, or at least strictly ration and manage, liberties. Naturally, those managing those higher up on the ladder of power in a Socialist or Communist system enjoy comparable benefits of status to their counterparts in a Capitalist system, but they have the added benefit that they are not accountable to those they manage.

Lenin is the author of 'applied' communism; this particular flavor was called Marxism-Leninism back in the USSR. Even so, not much of Lenin's work was actually original, more of a conglomeration and extension of pre-existing ideas.

As what it ended up as yes, communism blows. But as a purely theoretical economic system it isn't that bad of a notion. Totally unrealistic, but not intrinsically bad.

From Marx's point of view, post-Stalin Russian communism would likely be a substantial improvement from capitalism during his time. But you're correct; comparing the two in how they turned out in the long run makes it very clear that communism was a spectacular failure.

I suppose you're right. But back to the issue of leftist propoganda.

I don't think I've ever seen propoganda saying that certain liberties have been taken away. In fact, all the leftist propoganda I've seen refers mainly to the redistribution of wealth. Keep in mind, though, that I never lived through MacCarthyist America and have never really seen any good leftist propoganda.

Another point: I think you're confusing the word "leftist" for the word "Marxist." I know that's a very simple way of putting it, and that someone of your intelligence wouldn't make such an obvious folly. But it seems as though you equate leftist propoganda with Communist propoganda, which is certianly not always the case. After all, leftist propoganda must necessarily include Democrats and other liberal groups as well as Socialists and Communists. In that case, we refer to two different types of propoganda; I refer to the common stereotypes of the liberal hippie Green party-goers (an apt name, I think) as opposed to the Communists and Socialists. And there is an obvious distinction to be made between the two, of course.

But yes, back to your original point, Christian propoganda IS a lot like Communist propoganda. Christians and Communists are stripped of their liberties in pretty much the same way: One by the mandate of God, the other by the mandate of the State.

Perhaps not. Marx had pretty much nothing to say about the actual structure of a communism state, other than its inevitability. There wouldn't be much to pervert. In that sense, Lenin really is the author of communism--Marx just said the proletariat will make a revolution, wheareas Lenin described precisely what such a revolution hopes to achieve.
