A Normal Day in My Life--Getting ed Off

Post by C_Squared »

Hey everybody.

I heard this story a few days ago, and it started making me mad. Mad enough to post it up here. Somehow, it made the national news (US national news, it was on ABC if I'm not mistaken).

I only saw the second half, but it seems to go like this:

Down in Tennessee, there are stray dogs. Just like in every other state. And just like in every other state, the have dog pounds, where the stray dogs are taken. And just like in every other state, those dogs are euthanized after 2 months or so if they aren't picked up by anybody.

Unlike other states though, the method of euthanization that Tennesse uses is a gunshot. They take 'ol fido out back and put one between his cute little eyes. I like the way I worded that.

Now it seems that the general public wasn't too aware of this method. But two animal lovers with their cameras somehow got wind of it. People got offended, and the story makes the national news. Obviously, we have some bleeding hearts down in Tennesse who want a more "humane" way to make Rover drop . They want injections.

Okay, so get injections, everyone's happy. Right? Well, no. You see, injections cost $1.50 a pop. A single bullet costs 5 cents. Obviously, there are some monetary issues here.

Well, I live in a state known as Wisconsin, which is experiencing some very LARGE budget problems this year. Our state government is clipping every expense imanigable, trying to make ends meet. And then there are animal lovers in Tennesse, whining about dogs getting shot.

If the dog is , it is . The dog will not care. If it has an injection, it'll probably actually hurt the dog a little MORE than getting shot will. Will you feel a needle? Yes. Will you feel a bullet passing through your brain at 1000 feet per second? Probably not. If you don't want the dog , go to the pound and pick it up, and save the taxpayers another useless expense.
Yeah. I'm Still Right.

Is it painful to be shot between the eyes? If the shot is laid in correctly, the dog will have its metacortex severed, which will immediately shut down all higher nerve function, as well as severing the rest from the brain. The dog will be dead before it has fallen all the way to the ground. It is the preferred method of putting down cows for slaughter as well, if my memory serves me right.
An injection means the dog will fall asleep and never wake up. Again, quite painless (unless the injection counts).

Which method is better? Both are painless and quick. The only difference is that one of them goes bang. Shoot the damn critters.

I say shoot the people that don't spay and neuter their pets. They're the ones who are causing this problem. I have little tolerance for people who don't take responsibility for their animals.

Either these animal rights people take the dogs out of the pound, or they shup up and let poor, unwanted Rover die a painless and go up to dog heaven.

So long as the person putting the animal down knows what they are doing, I have no problem with it, as all ready stated, it's painless and quick, Though naturally you'd have to keep injections around for when Junior's faithful Duke get's too old......watching someone put a bullet between your dog's eyes when your a kid might be semi-traumatic :D

Who says you have to let the kid see? Only an idiot would let some kid watch his dog get shot. Just shoot the dogs. They'll be dead before they can register the sound of the shot, or the sensation of the bullet ripping into their flesh anyway.

If we want everyone to feel sorry for the dog, dress it up, and then shoot it. I heard there are pounds that are considering making pets more adoptable by dressing the up.

People these days are becoming such wimps. Soon, they'll only shoot the ugly, mean dogs, and give the cute, small ones away.

Reminds me, Hunting is illeagle in the National Forrest.
Previous generations killed most of the Predatory species

We have a MASSIVE deer overpopulation here in Yosemite.

These animals actually cause injury and sometimes kill people.

The Ranger's have to shot the deer every so often.
The Public always complains about people killing "Bambi"

Sorry "Ole Yeller", but I would have to go with the Tennesse animal control people on this one.

Of course here in california we use a really sick method, causes all of their joints to rupture, and their eyes, and ears to bleed. Yup we vacuume the dogs.

Yuummmmm, Bambi Burgers. <drool>

Although, I prefer the corn fed variety. Those ruthless deer sneaking into corn fields and stealing from hard working farmers. That's just evil, and it makes them taste better too. :)
