well... I for one happen to beleive that volcanism is the principal contributor outside of increased solar activity to the ending of ice ages -- they (volcanoes) spew so much CO2 into the atmosphere that an ice-age world's biosphere wouldnt be able to metabolise it, and thus a greenhouse effect would rapidly take place.

Except there are no major volcanic incidents at regular intervals throughout the Quternary.

Don't forget that the 'Ice Age' as the pop press likes to call it, was just one in a number of glacial phases in a cyclic Quaternary... probably cause by variations in oceanic and atmospheric circulation more than anything else.
