EHhh... what do you expect, just the other day I got cursed out by a kid who was no more then seven or eight on the subway, with his mother right next to him.Darth Fanboy wrote:You know whats disgusting about harry potter? But who says he'll read them? Before the Harry Potter books, I never thought any kid would try reading a 700-plus page novel, but with the movies, they really don't need to.Captain tycho wrote:Then kindly introduce him to books, if your so concerned.Darth Fanboy wrote:You know whats disgusting about harry potter? And yes, I do agree, kids are getting stupider nowadays, or at least the ones raised by lazy parents.

700+ page novels may be too much, but since nobody have made an entirely faithful adaptation of the Cthulhu mythos, it's still possible to raise your children on H.P. Lovecraft.Asst. Asst. Lt. Cmdr. (editor's note: Of course I'm joking, Lovecrafts stories are filled with archaic words which are hard to understand - and occassionally, Lovecraft used impressive-sounding archaic words only vaguely knowing their meaning)

Well, you know, it depends upon the parents. My mother and father gave me tons of sci fi and other books to read when I was just 6, and I've been hooked ever since.
All it takes is a little nudge from the parents to get kids interested.
Of course, many parents nowdays arent even willing to nudge.

IIRC, the author claims to be an ex-witch. Only problem is that a lot of it's off a bit. I know a couple members of a local Circle, and they're nothing like that. Nothing I've read on the occult suggests to me as much "witchly" influence as the website suggests. As was said before, many of those colors are used in religious robes. The constant appearance of certain colors (red, green) suggests to me more of a lack of imagination in visualization by Rowling, rather than Satanic influence.innerbrat wrote:Don't forget children - people with green eyes are evil!
What gets me, is if Joanne Rowling is evil because she knows so much about witchcraft, what's the excuse the author of this site gives?

Everything's "satanic" according to those people. If Rowling really wanted to promote occultism, she'd hire a skilled occultist as a "technical advisor." (I got the idea from Acheron, a death metal band who asks a Church of Satan priest for lyrics ideas )The Dark wrote: The constant appearance of certain colors (red, green) suggests to me more of a lack of imagination in visualization by Rowling, rather than Satanic influence.

Mythology is a far cry from occult practices. Most every good story has the earmarks which were first set from Greek mythology and legends.neoolong wrote:She has down a fair amount of research. I don't know how much of it was related to the occult, but she did research mythology.

Not that much. A lot of occultism is nothing but heavily bastardized mythology.DPDarkPrimus wrote:Mythology is a far cry from occult practices.neoolong wrote:She has down a fair amount of research. I don't know how much of it was related to the occult, but she did research mythology.

True that, but unlike occultism, you don't have to go through rituals and such with mythology.Simon H.Johansen wrote:Not that much.
