SC2 is coming out for everything with special characters for each platform. The X-Box ones are just different costumes for some comic book character, I think.

I think their are rumors of the Metal Gear series in coming back to the big N. Soul Caliber 2 is their too,
Both, it seems, will be cross console franchises. Both are from idenpendent developers so I don't see them jumping in bed with any one platform exclusively. Both have the fans to do it.

The one thing the XBox had going for me personally was the large controller. It's tough to go back and play the NES with it's smaller controllers. After that though, I don't see much reason to get, except I love consoles and want to get as many of them as I can. I played Halo, and when compared to virtually any other big name FPS out there, it sucks. However, even the controllers almost identical layout to the Dreamcasts (one of the best out there people.) I could never pick it up on a demo and play. Not worth a shit anyways.
Microsoft released the controler with the "s" option... a smaller controler for america, not that that little bit of information might pursued you differently, but there it is. Ive had two PS2s now, and both of them have gotten DREs ( disk read errors ) over time. Personaly, i think you should go with the GBASP, or a PC... and if you're darring.... a wonderswan!

Halo, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Morrowind, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, Splinter Cell, Unreal Championship, MechAssault... and let's not forget that every single game that is cross-platform ALWAYS winds up better on the Xbox, such as Silent Hill 2, Spiderman, Midnight Club 2, Max Payne, Hitman 2...

Bottom line: People who say that the only good game on Xbox is Halo... are just plain dishonest, or ignorant.

What does PS2 have? Hmm... Vice City. And that's out on PC. Frankly, there's no reason to buy a PS2, in my opinion.

Furthermore... I LOVE the Xbox controller. Maybe I'm just one of those freaks of nature that has average-sized hands, but I HATE having to scrunch my hands right up next to each other, holding a dinky little controller in my fingertips. I LOVE the fact that the Xbox controller fits snugly into my palms... it feels far more comfortable and relaxed.

The hardware? Built-in hard drive... essentially, $2000 worth of memory cards, for free. Built-in network card... along with the BEST online console gaming out of any of the three consoles. Less complex graphics architecture, meaning that it's simpler to program for... PS2 game designers have pretty much reached their limit in how much they can pump out of the PS2 (compare GTA: VC to the recent release The Getaway... the latter has better graphics, but sacrifices view distance in the process). The Xbox, conversely, has barely even tapped its potential.

Sorry, but I don't like to make short-sighted purchases. There aren't many PS1 games that interest me - aside from Silent Hill - so that's not a consideration. And the Xbox just has a greater future ahead of it (Fable! KOTOR! Doom 3!), rather than promises of more GTA (that'll just be ported to PC six months after their release anyway) and another glut of Final Fantasy games that do nothing but make me feel depressed over how far Squaresoft has fallen since the days of FF6...

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.............................. XBOX has Halo... And PS2 has easy-to-use controls... so I can see it's a hard decision. I "grew up" with PS, though, so I'm kind of partial. However, the XBOX controller is very similar to a disfigured PS controller, so they're both very nice.. Depends on your gaming preference, I'd say.

We've had our store PS2 crash once while running in an enclosed cabinate with no ventilation.

The XBox usually crashes at least once a month and it's running in a microsoft display that has fans in either side providing constant airflow.

Just FYI, those displays actually have subwoofers hidden just below the console.

If you want a console thats gong to be arround for a long time to come go with Sony. The PS1 burried the competition for the simple reason that it was best supported. It's the same story with the PS2. From a buyers point of view they are gonna go with a PS2 because the PS1 was so successful. As such game developers are more egar to make games for it and that in turn will give it a much better catalogue. Whats the point in haveing a great console that no one will build games for. Ask Sega.

Still like Pounder pointed out...they did what the NES did or hell what the Genesis nearly did(probably the best race for game).

Buy out the 3rd party support.

I think you missed my post. I LIKED the larger controller because I have large hands and i can actually have cramps on the smaller more cumbersome controllers. My Genesis 6 button controller is tough to use after a short while due to this fact. I have a GBA and I enjoy it far more than the GBC because of it's orientation. I usually only played my GBC in the carpool to work, and after the ride I'd be stretching my hands. That's what dissappoints me about the SP and a main reason why I am not getting one.

Only because they revamped everything after they found what others wanted. Amazing what guiniea pigging a game on another platform will do for developers. Spiderman being better is highly debatable. What about NFS on the next gens? Yup, PS2 owns that catagory. (Even if it's a crap game to begin with) How can you say Midnight Club 2 is better, if I'm not mistaken, not only is it online for both systems, it's not even out yet!!!
Bottom line: People who say that the only good game on Xbox is Halo... are just plain dishonest, or ignorant.
Ignorant more like it. It's obvious the only game they've played. Probably just picked it up at the store on the demo level and couldn't handle it. I played for a few hours at a friends house and at the end, when I standing over a pile of thier dead pixelated bodies, I was satisfied that game sucked ass. Splinter Cell, though, is thoroughly bad ass. However, it's hitting the PS2.
What does PS2 have? Hmm... Vice City. And that's out on PC. Frankly, there's no reason to buy a PS2, in my opinion.
Grand Theft Auto 3, GTA Vice City, both of which are on the computer, but then again, who wants to fuck with the computer, when you can simply toss a disc in and actually play your game? You sir are being the ignorant one now. Auto Modellista, Gran Turismo 3 A Spec and the Moto GP series for the racing fans like myself, not to mention Burnout, and it's sequel. God what a rush. How about Zone of the Enders, and Zone of the Enders Second Runner? Forgot about those titles eh? How about the underated game Stuntman, talk about kick ass. Did someone forget to mention it's backwardly compatible? I'm like CT17 at SB.com, Colony Wars baby lives!!! Plus take the two Oddworld games on the PS1 and put em against the Oddworld title on XBox. Wow, those people turned pre madonna and fucked that game up.

That's what I said! Why did they make the 's' controller? Were there that many KIDS crying about the size. Maybe that's why the Dreamcast really went down, the controller. The two are almost identical.

The hardware? Built-in hard drive... essentially, $2000 worth of memory cards, for free. Built-in network card... along with the BEST online console gaming out of any of the three consoles.

That would almost be debatable, however Nintendo doesn't give a flying fuck about online gaming, and the Sony isn't interested in a market that doesn't bring in bukoos of dollars. However, Microshit has been there, and they actually need that adavantage to sell. IF FFXI ever hits the states though, it's going to be hell on online (though I won't be playing it), however, my previously mentioned Auto Modellista goes online, GT4 when it hits will be online, Twisted Metal Black is online now, and they're still bringing in titles. The Gamecube, heh, only has Phantasy Star, but that's their loss.
Less complex graphics architecture, meaning that it's simpler to program for...

That's true. They kept it pretty simple to work with. Too bad they're not getting a but load of kick ass games. Give em time though, I'm sure we'll see something. But Sega GT will never match Gran Turismo.
PS2 game designers have pretty much reached their limit in how much they can pump out of the PS2 (compare GTA: VC to the recent release The Getaway... the latter has better graphics, but sacrifices view distance in the process).

That I have never heard. In fact, in EGMs afterthoughts with the head of the Vice City project they were going on that graphics was not thier main goal, but an expansive engrossing game. As much as it pisses me off, I will give em that, you get sucked in. It's almost identical graphic wise to the first game.

The Xbox, conversely, has barely even tapped its potential.
Niether has the PS2 or the Gamecube. A statement like that is just ludicrous. Unless your a programmer that has sat down and pushed the other two to thier limits and can adversely say with a fact that you could not even come close to that on the Xbox, your just blowing smoke. Say your not an Advertising Marketer for Xbox are you?
Sorry, but I don't like to make short-sighted purchases.

But, you bought and XBox...
There aren't many PS1 games that interest me

Then you must have absolutely no taste in games. The PS1 has the largest library and probably the most versatile selection of genres out there. There are games like the Mega Man X series and the likes that hold 2D, while others like Gran Turismo revelutionized how we look at racing games (Subsequntially making all other total crap). Never played Colony Wars? Dear lord man are you deprived.
- aside from Silent Hill
-

First off, I hate games like that, that's right I said it. I have Resident Evil for the Gamecube but I don't play it for long before I quit again. Earlier you were pimping Splinter Cell. Ever played the Syphon Filter games? Those were bad fucking ass. The original Metal Gear Solid is on the PS1, you know, the predecessor to your precious MGS Substance.
And the Xbox just has a greater future ahead of it (Fable! KOTOR! Doom 3!),

I was never a huge RPG fan, and I'll be playing Galaxies, (which will be on both PS2 and the Xbox) but KotR doesn't really interest me much, and Doom III, well, FPS with a controller piss me off, so I'll be struggling with my computer for that manuver.

rather than promises of more GTA (that'll just be ported to PC six months after their release anyway)

And won't work worth half a damn. You keep crying about how GTA has gone to the computer. What about Star Wars Starfighter, it's on Ps2 XBox, and PC!!! Hell, XBox doesn't even have Vice City, the best selling game. I keep hearing that PC pimping thing going on. Is that a downside? What the fuck, so it's on more than just the PS2. It's not an EXCLUSIVE TITLE. They can have GTA. Didn't the GTA series start on the PC anyways??? What the fuck, they just went back to thier roots. What do ya know? Has Gran Turismo gone to the PC? No. Has any of the fighting games gone to the PC? No. What else do you have, besides nothing.

Hey, want a kick in the ass. That Splinter Cell game you mentioned, no that you PIMPED, is coming on on *gasp* PS2 and PC!!! HOLY SHIT, talk about taking a piss in your wheaties dude.

and another glut of Final Fantasy games that do nothing but make me feel depressed over how far Squaresoft has fallen since the days of FF6...
That's your opinion, they're highly impressive to me. I hate fucking around with all the systems anyways. Where's my FFI NES cartridge!!!

Hey, does the XBox have titles like Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Party? No. What about Quake III and Sonic??? Hell, the damn thing doesn't even hang with the Dreamcast. LoL.

The PS2 only has Grand Theft Auto? Whose being the dishonest/ignorant one now? You should be aware of what they say about people and glass houses.

Let's see:

First and foremost, it has a magic thing called Backwards Compatibility, something which gave it a huge leg up when it came out. It came able to play all games from one of the largest game libraries around, those of the PS1. That you don't like any of them doesn't concern me, because when comparing which is better, even the most braindead should be able to realize there's something in that mass of games for every taste.

Next, it has a number of good franchises. Final Fantasy, whether you like it or not, is one of the best around when it comes to RPG's. GTA has it, as do several of their clones. Hell, even Baldur's Gate has a title on the PS2.

I'm sorry you're such an X-Box fanatic you have to be dishonest just to try and promote your favorite console. Maybe in time you'll become less of a dick.

Hey, I haven't played every MegaMan game. I've only played Mega Man 1-6, Mega Man X1, X4, X5, Mega Man Xtreme. I haven't tried my hand at the Gameboy games, or X2, X3, X6, or the Legends, MegaMan 7 or 8, or I know they brought a game over, must be that Mega Man and Bass game. Shit, I'm afraid of what they might keep doing to the Mega Man games.

Consoles suck. Get a PC.

Then again, the newest console I have is a semi-working original NES which you have to constantly blow the dirt out of for about half an hour to get working, and a 266Mhz 96MB RAM PII.

Well Sony makes a linux kit for PS2... maybe you can compile some linux games on it...

Consoles Suck? Had a bad driver for a vid card, Jedi Knight would NOT work, along with many other games. Mech Warrior 4, never worked. When it finally got going, it went for a level or two then quit. Got it back up again, got into a multiplayer game, it fucked up. Force Commander, used to shit all over me. X-Wing Alliance, had graphical issues until I was able to get a number of drivers installed. Balance of Power, won't install. Wingman controller won't install properly, USB fucked three ways from sunday.

Windwaker works fine every time. Gran Turismo 3, record laps. NES, a little cleaning because of constant abuse and malnurturing, fires up no problem. Genesis, every time. SNES, no sweat. PS2, you spin me right round baby right round. Dreamcast, runs Quake III like it's nobodies buisness.

Consoles suck? I am no computer expert, but why would something that gives you more hassles, and you constantly have to baby be better? People used to scream about graphically they were better. Yet graphics don't make the game and thanks to next gen systems, that's not even an issue anymore.

You're only compounding the problem by blowing onto the heads which increases oxidation. You may as well get a new connector (I can't recall where to get them, but they're cheap and easy to install).

I've got the connector. Only problem is I believe I stripped the heads of the screws to the case. Sucks. I got mine off Ebay, which my cousin found when looking for some for his NES. Somone emailed me claiming it was a scam, that if you call Nintendo, the phone number is on the bottom, they'd just send you one. Yeah right. But try it either way, and get a cleaning solution for your games so you get the grime and dirt out of there.

Only because they revamped everything after they found what others wanted. Amazing what guiniea pigging a game on another platform will do for developers.
Most multi-platform games are released at around the same time (like Spiderman). Or are you claiming that Microsoft is clairvoyant?
Splinter Cell, though, is thoroughly bad ass. However, it's hitting the PS2.
... Stripped down, graphically.
Grand Theft Auto 3, GTA Vice City, both of which are on the computer, but then again, who wants to fuck with the computer, when you can simply toss a disc in and actually play your game?
Me. The added difficulty of installing a game on your computer is infinitesimal compared to the added gains of having better controls, greater customizability, and better graphics.
That would almost be debatable, however Nintendo doesn't give a flying fuck about online gaming, and the Sony isn't interested in a market that doesn't bring in bukoos of dollars.
Then it's not debateable, is it?
That I have never heard. In fact, in EGMs afterthoughts with the head of the Vice City project they were going on that graphics was not thier main goal, but an expansive engrossing game.
I never contended otherwise. Graphics shouldn't be the most important part of a game. However, utilized properly, they can make the difference between a "Good Game" and an "Absolutely Incredible Game". Further, the less a designer has to worry about working graphical efficiency into his game, the more time he can spend making more game.

I'll throw in my towel as one of the few people on the planet disappointed with VC due simply to the fact that the game wasn't big enough.
But, you bought and XBox...
... Because I was able to look more than two months ahead at the games list that Xbox is going to have available.
Then you must have absolutely no taste in games.
Ri-i-i-i-ight...
The PS1 has the largest library and probably the most versatile selection of genres out there.
I'm well aware of the library that PS1 has. 95% of the games suck ass. The other 5% are either dated or have been redone better on either PC or other console games. Almost none of the PS1 games have the "classic" appeal of old NES or even SNES console games.
First off, I hate games like that, that's right I said it.
Good for you. I don't.
I was never a huge RPG fan
Good for you. I am.
And won't work worth half a damn.
Clearly you have zero experience with GTA ported to PC. It works wonderfully.
You keep crying about how GTA has gone to the computer. What about Star Wars Starfighter, it's on Ps2 XBox, and PC!!!
What about it? I didn't mention it. I have zero interest in playing it. The Star Wars console games (excluding JK2, but that was a PC game originally) have been very disappointing.
That Splinter Cell game you mentioned, no that you PIMPED, is coming on on *gasp* PS2 and PC!!! HOLY SHIT, talk about taking a piss in your wheaties dude.
Calm the fuck down, you primate. I "pimped" Splinter Cell? By mentioning it off-hand? Criminy, get a grip on reality.

SirNitram...
The PS2 only has Grand Theft Auto? Whose being the dishonest/ignorant one now?
Where did I claim that PS2 "only" has Grand Theft Auto? Learn to read, simpleton.
