The USS Statesman came out of high warp, straight into range of the powerful ISD. "Red alert!" The captain yelled as the ship began to dodge incoming fire, within seconds the schilds had failed and the ship span out of control, fire burning from holds in the deck. The last thing her cpatin saw, was the blue streck of a photon torp heading towards the bridge.
Meanwhile On board the ISD, the captain was haveing breckfast, unawere of his ship even entreing conbate, due to the fact, it wasn't belived nessasary to rase schilds when dealing with these rather primative ships...

Much better...

The Miranda class USS Memphis dodged to one side and down, slipping under most of the barrage as her own phasers returned the fire, slicing through the armour of her attacker.
On the bridge of the Federation ship the Executive officer checked his console for the tenth time in as many minutes, still hardly able to believe what he was seeing. The deck was shuddering occasionally as a turbolaser bolt slammed home on the shields. "These guys can't shoot to save their lives," he said wonderingly. "Haven't they heard of computer targeting?"
"Aft torpedoes fire," Captain Pellman said. "Full phasers too." She watched the viewscreen tactical display as the two glowing flecks of light closed on the Star Destroyer, slamming into an already damaged section. "Apparently not," she said in response as the colossus began to spin out of control, still spraying turbolaser fire in their general direction. "Helm, evasive pattern alpha five three. Tactical, another full load on the same area."
The Memphis dodged and weaved as it arced around and raced inward again. Phasers and photon torpedoes leapt out and ploughed into the gaping hole in the Star Destroyer's port side; the whole forward section began to shear away from the rest of the ship. Both sections continued to fire.

Oh, Star Trek: The Next Generation meets X-Men - Planet X wasn't self published. And it was bad on the level of Portal. Trust me on this; in a weak moment, I bought it. I still keep it around as an insect repellant.

That's why most trekkies were outraged that the E-E had a joystick.
Accually, I was outraged that the Captain's chair had a joystic rather than Helm and that the stick itself was a carbon coppy of the one I had beside my computer at the time.

yes the Federation is more advanced because they force thier people to learn how to type real fast in order to survive!

The ship is flown by typing is a Brain Bug from the TOS movies control consols. They have a bunch of buttons but still have levers and knobs. TNG comes along and the "Advancement" is that know there are no knobs any more. If you want to do anything you have to type real fast.

Ok, now I know that ships have targeting computers, but wasn't the one Luke was using in ANH only for the proton torpedoes? And it could stand to reason that it would only be effective against stationary/slow moving targets as the computer had to take a long time to line up the shot.

Dodonna's statements would suggest that, had the DS shaft not been ray shielded, they could ahve used laser cannons.
