I dunno. I suppose you could mention the fact that the Imperials are familiar with shapeshiferts in their galaxy and have would undoubtedly have scanners to detect them (after all, the one that detected Guri was something that Leia went out and got IIRC). As well, it's reasonable to assume that secure Imp facilities would have more advanced scanners and protocols in place.

Well, a quick web search reveals that one of them did turn into fire in the episode Chimera.

While changlings can servive in space they cannot propell themselves through it (unless they could push off things.) (See the DS9 epasode where Odo gets his shpeshifting powers back.) They cannot go subatomic. They cannot seperate themselves into peaces, they must stay attached to them selves otherwise they turn to mush (thats why you can detect them by taking blood samples)

Well, since there was a changeling that Odo meets that can travel in space, one assumes at high speeds since it takes a long time to get places, I would say that a changeling can not only survive in space, but get around too.

See the episode where Odo finds out he is one of the changelings that got send out in the universe along with a bunch of other kids.

nono the changelings were just sent out to drift. They can't get arround on their own. It was just floating on its own momentom.
