Dumbest anti-war celebrity

As per the subject, who do you think is the flat-out dumbest celebrity that's making a big stink about the war with Iraq?

Quick note: that's not to say it's stupid to be anti-war; simply, who's ranted the most yet failed to make their case?

I'm honestly struggling to come up with a single person. There are a lot of dummies in Hollywood

I must say, I intensely dislike Tim Robbins' rhetoric; evidently, he thinks it's cool to use his "status" as a pulpit, but those who disagree with him are somehow unjustified in so doing.

He is prone to wild exaggeration and ham-fisted abusive ad hominem attacks; e.g., "19th century FOX"...real clever, Timmy. He's also bad to get very excited and overly emotional when being cool and collected would help him make a better case. (Granted, the volume of one's voice isn't in and of itself a condemnation of their argument, but when it supplants an argument, it's bad. The Donahue school of argumentation only gives out dunce caps.)

However, I'm not sure if Tim should be A-number one on the dumb celebrity list. I think my intense dislike for his statements and him, the person, are coloring my judgment. Relevant side-note: when, apropos nothing, he took a verbal shot at Arnold Schwarzenneger years ago on HBO, I lost what little respect I had for the guy. I bet Arnold worked a lot harder to get what he has than Timmy "Ride Pop-Eyed Susie Sarandon's Coat tails" Robbins did.

I always liked Martin Sheen, but I'm afraid he's vying for the title, too..the poor guy is just an embodiment of a Wall of Ignorance (tm). Tell him something, and he simply restates his distaste for the current U.S. gov't.

I'd also have to toss in the Dixie Chicks for their cheap shot, no substance-tactics. (How stupid is that? Their core audience is predominantly Republican.)

I might also nominate Michael Moore, since he is known to distort rather straight-forward facts to support his conclusions, albeit the fact he's supposed to be a pretty good filmmaker.

Additionally, if you were to replace one of these folks' many kiss-ass advisors, how would you suggest they change their approach to make not only a more convincing or relevant argument, but thereby save a little face with movie-goers? Or do you think a Tim Robbins won't be measurably hurt by the foam-at-the-mouth rants he's popularized?

Thoughts, frivolous as the subj. matter may be?

The only celebrities I've heard speaking is that guy from M.A.S.H. and Jenine Garofolo. Both were on CNN. The MASH dude explained pretty clearly his position and arguments. Jenine resorted to quotes, like from Bush Sr's book saying invasion of Iraq is bad, etc. But she did cut through a few logical fallacies thrown her way by the CNN crossfire team. I really couldn't criticize either for being especially dumb, although I'm sure there's plenty of dumb celebs.

Garofalo fielded some fallacies? Good for her. Maybe I was too quick to jump on her case. (At one point, she was on the Bill O'Reilly show, and he actually let her talk for a bit. She kinda stumbled over herself there.)

I am going to go with Tim Robbins, he hits below the belt with his ad hominem attacks, and never actually gives some reasons. But, personally, I think that any of these actors who use their position and their ability to get publicity just to try and foist off their views on people, well, I am personally against it.

Michael Moore. So far he's spent more time harping on how Bush is an illegal dictator (as if that wasn't settled along time ago?). Beyond some War for Oil bullshit he hasn't made a case at all that doesn't rely on sensless Bush bashing.

And why do some many of the anti-war crowd use that stupid arguement? Bush is your president, deal with it.

This is really hard. I mean, there's just so much stupidity from this crowd, picking out one example to sit at the top is extremely difficult.

If I had to pick, I'd propbably pick Michael Moore just because he's such an arrogant, obnoxious windbag.

Right now though, Jeneane Garofalo is coming in a close second, because if there's one thing I can't stand, it's pretentious phonies - people who don't mean what they say, especially when they're trying to claim the moral high ground.

Recently when Garofalo appeared on Fox News Channel's "The Pulse," host Bill O'Reilly asked what she would do if her predictions that the war would be a disaster turned out to be wrong.

O'REILLY: If you are wrong... and if the United States - and they will, this is going to happen - goes in, liberates Iraq [with] people in the street, American flags, hugging our soldiers... you gonna apologize to George W. Bush?

GARAFALO: I would be so willing to say, "I'm sorry". I hope to God that I can be made a buffoon of, that people will say, "You were wrong. You were a fatalist". And I will go to the White House on my knees on cut glass and say, "Hey, you and Thomas Friedman were right... I shouldn't have doubted you"...

Well, Iraq now vies with France as quickest nation to fall when invaded. The war did indeed turn out to be about as far from a disaster as it is possible for a military operation ever to get. And indeed, there really were Iraqis in the streets, waving American flags, hugging our soldiers, and kissing pictures of George W. Bush. So what did Garofalo do when it came time to put her money where her mouth is? She told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg "I have nothing to apologize for," and later added: "Boycotters are welcome to keep giving me tons of publicity. There will be no apologies."

God how I despise these grandstanding, sanctimonious assholes who talk big, but backpedal and renege and justify when it comes time for them to keep their big promises. They are just people of no integrity, who prove the truth of the old saying "talk is cheap".

The few hundred or even thousand Iraqis that we have seen all over the news thanking the American's aren't exactly a majority in Iraq, as far as I know, and the euphoria is starting to wear off even for the ones that are genuinely happy that we kicked Saddam out.

If the Iraqis are cheering us a year from now, then I'll say that Garofolo is a back-pedalling hypocrite.
