I doubt we'll see that kind of advance soon. The problem is power. Generating enough power is going to necessitate a fairly large power source and isn't likely to be small enough to be a threat.

Most estimates I've seen are about ten years or so, maybe fifteen. You don't need an enormously powerful laser to wreck a rotor - that one on the HMMVW might just do it.

So in other words no more of a threat than they face now but from a jeep sized carrier?

AAA fire might get deflected by the armor; defensive laser fire might do something nastier to it with all that energy transfer happening so quckly.
