Code of Honor
Just watched this TNG ep, geez damn it reeked of idiocy.
I'm generally a TNG fan, but Code of Honor was stupid IMO. What TNG ep did you all hate?

The Enterprise picks up some militant Klingons from a damaged freighter. They try to convince Worf to help them take over the Enterprise and go on viking spree.

It should be noted that in an Internet interview, Jonathon Frakes said quite clearly that "We tried to get the racist "Code of Honor" episode out of the loop."
Hmm. The worst TNG episodes in my opinion (besides Code of Honor, which I won't even recognize) would have to include Shades of Grey (clip show... UGH...), The Next Phase, Ship in a Bottle, and indeed most of the 7th season, where Berman's style really began to show. The major exception is one of my favorite episodes, Gambit.

Shit. You're right. I hate it when that happens.Sektor31 wrote:Actually, it's that episode where Picard visits some planet whos leader takes Tasha and she fights with someone over being a wife of that leader.
What you talked about Ted was Heart of Glory.

And what was really stupid is that when one got knocked off it almost killed a man. I don't suppose they ever heard of plastic walls like they use in hockey.TrailerParkJawa wrote:The episode with Tasha duelling was stupid even for the 1st season.
I really hated the spiked bird head weapons.

"Code Of Honour" was embarrasing, to say the least. You wonder what Maurice Hurley was thinking by letting something which was even more racist than Charlie Chan go out. "Heart Of Glory" was worse though because its racism was more subtle. When it starts looking like Korris and his aide are going to be trouble, Tasha's first instinct is to suspect Worf's loyalty simply because he too is a Klingon, and Picard is none too quick to dispel her suspicion.
Anybody remember a little TOS episode titled "Balance Of Terror"? When Lt. Stiles openly expresses his racist attitudes toward Spock, and Capt. Kirk quickly cuts him down to size on the bridge, telling him flatly to leave his bigotry in his quarters?
What a difference between 22 years.

Yeah, I remember that one. I remember thinking something along the lines of "Fucking A!" when Kirk told him off.Patrick Degan wrote:Anybody remember a little TOS episode titled "Balance Of Terror"? I thought it was poisened and he did die? Anyway you are correct, there should have been a shield up, even if it was plastic.neoolong wrote:And what was really stupid is that when one got knocked off it almost killed a man. Of course maybe they wanted to show that the death was viewed differently there.

That episode was bad. Plus, if Denise Crosby could have faked being able to fight a little better someone might have realized that Tasha could have been one of TNG break out characters. The show could have been been leading the way in the bad-assed female action star type character very common now. Instead they underutilized the character for a year and then Crosby decided she wanted out.TrailerParkJawa wrote:The episode with Tasha duelling was stupid even for the 1st season.

Just think how much more action the show could have had if they had a badass Tasha around and kept Worf as a tertiarry character.
