Also, he told me he plans to keep up with politics, but that when it comes time to vote, he won't do it.

Voting...
A friend of mine for some reason thinks it's wrong that schools encourage students to vote because it's "imposing a certain point of view" on them. I find it hard to believe that encouraging students to choose who they want to run their own government is "imposing a certain point of view" on them. Schools shouldn't be allowed to encourage voting?
Also, he told me he plans to keep up with politics, but that when it comes time to vote, he won't do it.
What the hell is the point of keeping informed about politics if you're not going to vote? Screwy, if you ask me...

I don't want anyone voting who won't do so without prompting. If your not interested enough to do it yourself, stay home.

Re: Voting...
He's a moron. How are people supposed to realize voting is important if nobody teaches them? I'm glad he's sitting at home on election day, frankly.IRG CommandoJoe wrote:A friend of mine for some reason thinks it's wrong that schools encourage students to vote because it's "imposing a certain point of view" on them. The annoying thing was that he was overly sensitive about it. I said that it was stupid for not voting so then he gets all defensive and says, "YOU CAN'T CALL ME STUPID FOR HAVING MY OWN POINT OF VIEW!!!" So then when I try to explain why it's a wrong point of view and why it's stupid, he still repeats that I can't call a different point of view stupid.

Tell him that if he doesn't vote next election, then you don't want to hear him bitching about who got in office or what bills got passed, because he doesn't have the right.
If you don't vote, then you have no right to bitch.
Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

I think youre all forgetting that voting is way to make a statement about who you want in office, and not voting is also a statement, its saying you dont want ANY of the fuckers in office because theyre all morons.
I think I'll let 2 do this for me..

Which means that with you *not* voting, the moron you'd least like to be elected is prolly the one that wins.kojikun wrote:I think youre all forgetting that voting is way to make a statement about who you want in office, and not voting is also a statement, its saying you dont want ANY of the fuckers in office because theyre all morons.

Considering how I'd equally like neither to be elected, it wouldn't much matter. But that's not to say I won't vote, because there are things that would be important to me.Which means that with you *not* voting, the moron you'd least like to be elected is prolly the one that wins.
That, and I'd laugh as I vote then move out of the country. ::chortle::

That's really no different from "YOU CAN'T CRITICIZE SOMEONE'S BELIEFS!!" I don't know why people think that personal opinions somehow make themselves immune to criticism by virtue of being personal.IRG CommandoJoe wrote:The annoying thing was that he was overly sensitive about it.
