I'd seriously ask, "How can you possibly condone the atrocious behaviour of the Catholic Church, indeed even call it moral. Have you know deceny or compassion?"

Would he answer the honestly? If so, I would ask him what methods and teachings of the Catholic church and interpretations from the Bible he disagrees with or does not believe in.

I would ask: "Do you feel no guilt at all over the millions of starving babies in Africa that exist and suffer in large part because of your tireless efforts to demonize and prevent the use of contraception?"

Of course, I would also be tempted to ask about the priest child-molestation thing, the ordainment of women thing, the attitude toward gays, the attitude toward other religions, the insane policy of excommunicating a 9 year old girl and her family because she had an abortion after she was raped by a child molester (perhaps child molesters, like birds of a feather, like to stick together). But I only get one question, so that's the one I'd ask.

AMEN!

That's exactly the issue (though I focused more on the spread of AIDS) that got me debating with my friend over what he believes. My friend feels the Pope is right and that the Africans are just "stupid" because they don't listen to the whole message (ie. "Do not use condoms and abstain from sex"). Well then, I guess people like that deserve to die!

Faith did`nt help much when he was shot in the early 80s.

A serious question would be "Would you give away all the wealth the catholic church has accumulated over the centuries?"

My question would be more like "So...why do you ride around in an armored car with bullet-proof glass, are you afraid you won't be going to heaven if you get shot and die?"

"Your exellency, is there really a secret Testament of Jesus of Nazareth, and if so does it in fact contradict the entire existence of the Catholic Church?"

The myth/story of the Testament of Jesus has been around for quite some time, according to the story , Christ laid out the necessary steps for continued worship, and it had NOTHING to do with a massive central church heirachy. It set out a outline for life of love yourself and your fellow man, and that your relationship to God required nothing more than to speak his name anywhere anytime. Wish it were real.

I think he disapproves of it. I certinly hope he does. It's a small minority of priests who do it and it's certainly not smiled upon or encouraged.
the insane policy of excommunicating a 9 year old girl and her family because she had an abortion after she was raped by a child molester
Yeah, that was insane. I agree with him in believing that the abortion was a sin, but good grief, it's a 9 year old girl who needs our compassion after going through sometihng like that. And Jesus came for the sinners of the world. If they excommunicated everyone for doing something wrong, theree'd be no-one left in the church. No one should be turned away.
](perhaps child molesters, like birds of a feather, like to stick together).
Don't you tihnk it's a little unfair to label all those in position of leadership within the Catholic church as child molesters? I mena seriously Mike, if a member of cabinet was revealed to be a child molester, should everyone in government have that label hung round their neck?

I'd say that the New Testament we have says notihng about a massive bureaucratised organised like the Catholic Church has become. The worship of God is described as trying to live your life according to his commands and ascribing glory to him. The early church seemed to work by meeting in small groups of a few families in someone's house to read scripture, sing hymns and pray. The more people there are, the bigger a building you need, so there's certainly nothing wrong with having a church building, but the whole hierarchy of power that exists now is quite ridiculous. I'd say that that Testament of Jesus exists in the Gospels, but people just don't see it sometimes.
