Fuck it. This is so fucking typical of my fucking life. The instant I go out of my way to fucking cheer someone up, I get my fucking hands slapped for it. Well, fuck it. I hope you fall on something long and sharp in the near future, SS.
If you can't take or get what was acutally meant as a minor joke in reply to your actions then don't bother with them.

About that aspect of the trip, I am. We did very well, despite our robot being designed heavily around stacking. What a useless ability that was, even in the practice matches we only managed two stacks off two in two regional and the national competition. Course we also just didn't try.

Overall FIRST designed a very shitty game. Just a glance at there computer animation of how the game should go shows every Robot happily stacking and almost no one ramming. It also shows heavy sensor usage, another near worthless ability we only briefly considered for our design.

I only saw the ability to stack being used twice, and that was really to steal a two high stack from the other alliance...

What regional did you go too?

I watched 200+ rounds be played and counted seven stacks in competition rounds, none where over two though a few did win the match for teams.

Luckily for 486, we threw on some very long arms with a nice big pneumatic cylinder in our last few days of building. They bent pretty easily but worked great with our autonomous program. Just once we managed to get every single box on the ramp in seven seconds. Though supposedly at the Florida regional one team did that in three.

I went to both the Sacramento and SV regionals. The most common thing done was just have the human players stack up the crates, and hope that they don't get knocked over. My old team(114) basically had their robot designed to run up onto the ramp, and suction cup itself down onto the ramp. worked rather well, so long as the opponent couldn't limbo underneath the arms... (still grumbling that 114 didn't win any awards for the animation...)

That's quite the thing to have happen to you. I'm glad you haven't had to have surgery so far, and I hope you can recover fully without it, Skimmer. A pity it doesn't appear like charges will be pressed, as the lout should be spending a good number of days in a correctional institution.

At any rate, "enjoy" your enforced lethargy at home as best you can and do try to avoid things that would excerbate it. I might, at least, also suggest tea if the fizz alone is what would annoy your stomach in pop. It's better, anyway. *g* Good luck on the recovery.

Chesapeake and Phildephia for us.

There was some team at the Chesapeake regional with the suction cup from hell, they had a huge piston to create a vacuum for it since the pump can't do it directly.

Once there was time to gather information, I found a lot of human players put a box or two in front of any robots that went for the boxes on the ramp. Just one or two could throw the whole program off.

Thanks. If you get past the first day or so without it, I'm told there's only a 10% chance you'll need surgery later on and after this long that more like 1%. Though it’s a near certainty if I injure it again, pretty much all they can do for a spleen is remove the whole thing.

Well, I spend most of my time in front of a computer during winter anyway, and yesterday was in the 30's in Philly. I guess this might be a good time to take up tea drinking, I've only tried a few types but there's about twenty kinds in my house.

Ba, so few of you care to guess.

I'm on the far left, standing directly above and behind the kid with his eyes closed
