Damn, I usually get cheap lenses and moderately-priced frames, though I may return to Transitions the next time I get a pair.On the other hand I have way better glasses than they do, I've had Polo's, Gucci's, and I'm wearing Armani glasses right now, all with the best Nikon lenses money can buy. Of course my glasses are fully covered under insurance so they're effectively free, otherwise I would not have $400-$500 glasses.

Transistions...those are the ones that go dark in sunlight aren't they? I was thinking about those type of lens for my glasses but seeing that I already have prescription sunglasses I couldn't justify it. I had issues with the cheap lenses before, the thing is the tolerances on them aren't all that tight and they were giving me friggen headaches, so I got the good stuff and never looked back. Frames, well, I get the good stuff because they last longer and fit better as well as being a lot lighter (love Ti frames). Besides, I have insurance so I might as well milk them for all they're worth.
aerius: I'll vote for you if you sleep with me.
Lusankya: Deal!
Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

Our insurance isn't that good, but it does cover quite a bit.aerius wrote:Transistions...those are the ones that go dark in sunlight aren't they? I usually get some sort of thin polycarbonate lens (not the ultra-cheap plastic ones, mind you) and replace my frame when I do my lenses since I can't go without my glasses for any period of time (I have worse than 20/200).
Transitions are good. I also have a pair of sunglasses with nicer frames, but the lenses aren't very dark (polycarbonate simply cannot get very dark, alas) which is a problem in Florida.

Worse than 20/200? Sounds like me, last time I got a number. Most recent I got from an exam was "sees fingers at five feet" or something like that...not even a number.phongn wrote:I usually get some sort of thin polycarbonate lens (not the ultra-cheap plastic ones, mind you) and replace my frame when I do my lenses since I can't go without my glasses for any period of time (I have worse than 20/200).

As for the Florida bit, I have yet to really wear sunglasses. Ever. I usually wear a hat, and that's all I need (though I do have some funky anti-glare thingamajob on my glasses, which usually works, but I need a hat now that it's getting to summer again, or I get spots and can't keep my eyes open all the way if facing in the general direction of the sun).
EDIT: Oh yeah, footwear!
I own one pair of mini-combat/"police" boots for everyday use, sneakers for when I do any kind of PT, uniform shoes (do I even NEED to explain when I wear these?), and combat boots when I wear my BDUs (and ONLY when I wear BDUs, too).
That's it for my shoe collection. As for would I wear sandals, the simple answer is no. I barely go around without SOCKS for crying out loud, even in my own house. Me and barefoot do not mix well, unless I'm in the water or a shower or something. It's just one of those things, I guess...you'd never see me barefoot unless I'm in a pool/waterpark, a doctor, or taking a shower (only females would see this, of course ).

What's that mean? You can make out fingers at five feet, or five feet is when your vision starts getting blurry?RogueIce wrote: Worse than 20/200? Sounds like me, last time I got a number. Most recent I got from an exam was "sees fingers at five feet" or something like that...not even a number.

I do believe it's making out fingers at five feet. Things start (not too much, but start) to get blurry at about a foot from my face (when I take off my glasses, but my hand to my face, and move it back). I can't read fairly large type on an envelope at an arms length without my glasses.Darth Yoshi wrote:What's that mean? In short, my vision monumentally sucks, and I'm only 18.

Your vision is actually better than mine. 6 inches for me, and I'm 16. I stopped being able to make out the E on the vision chart years ago.

It means either you are extremely far-sighted, or you have eagle eyes. The first is can be a hassle, but the second is good.
