Yes. My wife owns several from her Christian days. Actually, to be honest, they don't come in useful even for the purpose of criticism. You can always find whatever you want faster with biblegateway.com than by searching through a printed version.Enforcer Talen wrote:why or why not?

I prefer the Skeptic's Annotated Bible myself.Darth Wong wrote:Yes. My wife owns several from her Christian days. Actually, to be honest, they don't come in useful even for the purpose of criticism. I don't personally own one, but when I'm away at school I can just go and bum one of one of the fundies in my hall.

I own one of those books, yes. And it was sort of . . . permanently borrowed from the Sunday school of one of the local churches.Enforcer Talen wrote:why or why not?

Re: you own a bible?
And why do I own it? Because I do. It was useful when I was taking a Bible as literature course in high-school. But, for debates, Skeptic's Annotated Bible is much, much better.GrandMasterTerwynn wrote:I own one of those books, yes. At home we have several, somewhere between 5 and 10, I think. A few are antiques.
In my dorm I have a copy of the Oxford Study Bible which is the Revised English Bible with the Apocrypha. It was for my Judeo-Christian Tradition course last year.
It's pretty good with a lot of notes, commentary, summaries, etc...

Have a few copies. One is the NKJ, which is on my Handspring Visor Prism. Another is a NIV study Bible, broken down for every day of the year, called the One-Year Bible (have read that version twice). Another is a marriage study Bible with notes for my wife and me (also NIV -- see a pattern here yet?). Another is a very worn copy of the NIV. Have one New Century Version that my mom & dad gave me when I graduated high school. Another is a German bible that my sister gave me years ago, when I had a German girlfriend, but since I don't know German, I haven't read it. And finally, I have the PC Bible, which contains four versions, and some of you have seen me quote from it here on the forum.

We've got two bibles in the house. One is real old; it belonged to my Great Grandmother. Its front and back covers are made out of wood. Unfortunately it's over 110 years old, and the binding is falling apart. It's still a pretty cool antique.

I find this utterly hilarious for some reason.aphexmonster wrote:I have 33 pocket bibles from my school. Some mormans were passing them out... so i started collecting
I have a bible and quick verse book in my room - there is a bookcase of bible based therapy books in my hallway (o_O) and assorted encyclopedic references and bibles around.

Two. One belongs to my father from when he attended church in Massachusetts for some reason. The other is a KJV I had to get because my English teacher made the class read the book of Genesis from specifically the King James Version. I used to have the E-book on my hard drive but it got deleted.
I prepared Explosive Runes today.

Sure. I use it for literary references, frequently. Mine is a really good one that also includes several books of the apocrypha, with additional resources for students and references to other Christian religious texts.
