There are actually religions which which endorse vegetarianism (buddhism, jainism and hinduism) - but strangely enough, PETA never mentions them.

The only reason Jesus never ate meat is that he couldn't afford it. On the other hand, didn't numerous prophets sacrifice animals? Even Moses, a homicidal maniac, had sheep blood used as a rather ugly door decoration.

Well, Hitler was a vegetarian (but for diatery reasons, though), but he didn't have a problem slaughtering 6 million Jews.
