BARABBAS LIVES!!!

Post by Tsyroc »

That's what I wrote on one of the marker boards at work.

It was basically my way of venting because one of my co-workers had taken it upon himself to post a Bible quote and a picture his 6 year old son had drawn about Jesus' Reserection. If it had just been the quote I would have taken it down but because the feelings of a kid were potentially involved I wussed out. I also thought of putting some pictures of zombies and vampires next to the "He is Risen" picture but instead I decided to be my usual smart assed non-confrontive self and wrote "Barabbas Lives" on one of the marker board we have in a different part of the pharmacy. I figured it would be "mocking" but not overly mocking.

It would have been an accurate thing to say, at least shortly after the crucifiction of Jesus. I'm sure his cohorts said something similar shortly after his release.

You should have written, FEAR THE MIGHT OF CTHULHU AND TREMBLE, just to be mysterious for those who don't read lovecraft.

I would have written "Follow Satan! He was smart enough not to get himself crucified in the first place!"

Ah, but that would get you fired for being 'offensive', nevermind the fact that the Jesus picture is offensive to you.

What's kind of creepy is that in the process of finding zombie pictures on the web I cam across a bunch of pictures of Rob Zombie. With his makeup on he'd probably be a good and creepy substitute for "Zombie Jesus".

I think there might have been one or two people who would have gotten that statement without me having to explain it. Most of my more subtle jokes/digs tend to go way over the heads of the people I work with. :?

Great idea! Personally, however, I'd do "He wasn't for celibacy, he got nailed!" or "Pilate in 30(I think)!" or draw a chariot from "BEN-HUR". And those are only a few ideas....
