Talen, just say "as if god exists, oh please" then laugh at them whenever they say anything remotely god related.

Then, when they think you're just ignorant, bring out the big guns of intellectual debate, the shock value alone will win you the day.

Oh, fuck! That's bad!!!

Tell them your views and shut them up for good on the matter. Course that might be like fixing a papercut with six gallons of burning Gasoline...

Just because Matt and I had Easter Dinner out today doesn't imply any type of special belief. Lamb was the special - so we saved money!

Well, that sucks pretty badly. Though I can think of something to do when they put a Bible on your bed.

When one wakes up with a Bible on their bed, the first thing they should do, after finding out who did it, is to put on as cheerful a smile as possible and say:

"Thanks! You don't know how helpful that was. Now you've given me a handy book of quotes that can be used to prove just why Christianity is such a bad idea." :D

Yes, tell them where you stand and also to keep their bullshit to themselves. Use offensive platitudes like, "if you want to talk to your invisible friend, that is fine but keep it to yourselves."

And yes, Easter is so Christian. Rabbits, coloring eggs... what could be more Christian than that?

did I mention this fellow is a vegetarian vegan? easter lunch was. . .bleh.

oh, and I debate my sis regularly, but she has gotten to the point of running away when I bring it up. singing 'lalalala I cant hear you' is an option during that.

and, I dont want to debate my mom on the topic. not that I would lose, but then she would feel all bad about my soul and pray for me and stuff. and always try to talk about it. she knows I was a christian maltheist, but doesnt know Ive quit it entirely. I prefer to leave it alone.

fortunately, I changed the topic soon enough, and its better. bleh my sis for bringing up religion in the first place. she doesnt want to debate it alone, and I dont want to debate with mom. what my sis do? bring it up in front of guest *and* mom.

Talen, he is a fundamentalist Christian-vegan? God, I am sure that these are symptoms of an underlying mental disorder.

Is he also into "alternative medicine?"

The veggie vegan (warning: redundancy detected!) I'm not too bad about, but your sister is a Grade A Coward! No offense to you, my sis is just like that minus the religious angle...

That's not whack; it's probably true. Every fundie-vegan that I have ever encountered is a nut job. These are the people that get arrested because they refuse to let their children receive vaccinations.

so I went on a rant about drinking mangled grapes that were ripped off their vine.

I stay away from meat for the most part because of the fat and I have this thing about my weight. Believe me, a nice bloody rare steak is the best thing in the world.

Although I resist eating meat, that doesn't mean it's totally striken from my diet. I have seen a few people who are not only vegitarian, but will jump you if you sit there and eat meet... EKK...

Herbs? Bah, useless and sometimes dangerous. Ephedrine anyone?

Ah, but herbs are natural, you say? Well, so is bird poop. Maybe if you eat that it will clean the "toxins" out of your system.

Three pounds of animal flesh in your system? Where? I assist a forensic pathologist in my job, and during autopsies I have never pulled any decaying animal flesh out of anyone. As if nature wouldn't have taken this into account and corrected it long ago. Where do these vegans come up with this nonsense?

I have no idea.

oh, and he's a trekkie. I asked for reasons, and here's what he came up with.

"Star Trek is better."
"I dont have a reason."
"Its just an opinion about a fictional show."

o_O

so he read a chapters worth of bible verses to me after lunch, and then I asked if he knew who cthulhu was. when he said no, I brought out my collection. rp books, two collections of short stories, the usual.

his comment? "looks evil."

Typical. Just show him some of the evil shit that Yahweh did in the Old Testament.

I think you might be on to something though; everytime he reads his stupid Biblical crap to you, just read your Lovecraft stuff to him. Maybe he will get the point.

I wonder why this guy is the way he is. My bet is that he went through a particulary harsh trama when he was younger, and this is the mechanism that he adopted to "control his reality," so to speak. There are always ex felons and recovering alcoholics too.
