"Star Wars tech is completely fanboy and implausible.&q
... says a TrekBBS forumer who goes by the name Strider, as he explains how Trek ships would wipe the floor with anything that SW galaxy can offer. Many other great minded fellows nod their heads in agreenment, but he is not yet finished, proving how his mind is uncapable of consuming information. "I mean, that's the kind of crap that people make fun of about SF. That link [SD.net] talked all about how many jiggowatts of power a ImpStar II can throw out and how big the Death Star is."
Some quotes from their discussion:
"Personaly, I think an Oberth class ship would make short work of any SW vessel."
"What I'd want to see is the Scimitar vs. and Imperial Star Desroyer. My bet's on the Reman Warbird."
"Genesis Device 1, Death Star 0."
"I dont believe the SD's turbolasers could penetrate Fed shields."
"My conclusion is that the GC would win [ISD]."
"Sure a phaser "may" not be able to do anything to a SW Destroyer, but what about a tachyon burst? Or an inverse polarion field? What about a ressonance burst from the main deflector?" [Oh Gawd! These very same people also claim in this thread that Star Wars and Star Trek cannot be compared because the former is "based on science"...]
In this thread we have it all! Almost every fallacy concerning Trek vs Wars debating is mentioned, including classics like "Trek shields are impregnable against turbolasers", "Imperials cannot aim", "Hyperdrive is slower than warp", "Mike Wong is biased and therefore I will not accept his calcs!" and "Godlike beings would come to Feddies' rescue".
However, as Kinnison proves it here, not all Trekkies think alike.

WTF??
I'm not a very good at debates but i feel very tempted to login and try to do something about it.
And they call SD.Net Biased
First they that trek would win then when shown the ICS they say we can't compare the 2 universes.
I think it's better for someone with more experience in debates do something about it.
And there is more crap awaiting...

And ST isn'tThe problem with this is that Star Wars tech is completely fanboy and implausible.
I think that this is the kind of thing that a person will say when it has nothing to backup his claims.Fine I can play that way too: I invented a new ship called the Death Crusher Sun Snuffer. It is as big as Earth's solar system. It has the weapon's capability to destroy entire star systems in a single shot. It mounts fifty billion turbolasers and 3 million quantum torps. Once, the DCSS snuffed out an entire civilization accidently when one of its station keeping thrusters misfired! A massive computer bigger than the moon runs the damn thing, and 3 gigojillion people live inside.
More interesting!!!See, that was so easy. I didn't even have to think about it. I just made up that crap as I went along. The Stars Wars tech is equally stupid. Galaxy wins simply because it's far more interesting, although I would prefer the Defiant!
Those are heat sinks if i'm not mistaken. The Tie Fighetrs. The hexagonal panels on either side of the cockpit are supposed to be solar panels.
Portal neutral fic!?There is another fan fic on a battle between the ST and SW universes at www.ditl.org. I find that it is more neutral but still is a bit biased, towards ST in this case.

1.21 'jigoowatts' of Trek moronity
Also, the Engineers/Sci Officers/Ops couldn't work out a holy technobabble to wipe out the Dominion fleet in a jiffy, how could they work it out on SW?
Irrelevant (and....recent days Trek is more crapped than Wars, one doesn't need to bother about how R2 fixed the MF or Amidala's ship, but one MUST bother and get annoyed how [technobabble] this and [technobabble] that using [technobabble] this to [technobabble] that can fix the [technobabble])moron wrote:"I mean, that's the kind of crap that people make fun of about SF. That link [SD.net] talked all about how many jiggowatts of power a ImpStar II can throw out and how big the Death Star is."
So it's an 'I think' with no backup."Personaly, I think an Oberth class ship would make short work of any SW vessel."
The Reman Warbird is at the KT level, the cloak can be detected by simple systems without Trek personell using them, the maneuverability is good but the ISD gunners are highly experienced with shooting targets with awesome craziness performance, the Medusa weapon takes too much time to prime and fire, "I think" and ISD would make short work of the Reman Warbird."What I'd want to see is the Scimitar vs. and Imperial Star Desroyer. My bet's on the Reman Warbird."
The Device requires a ship to launch it, the Death Star has shields, let the surface defenses cripple the ship and we get a ST:TWOK scenario...with nothing happening to the DS, and no time to fix the ship's warp core."Genesis Device 1, Death Star 0."
If believing can backup arguments, then I believe Solo's blaster CAN penetrate Fed shields."I dont believe the SD's turbolasers could penetrate Fed shields."
So ST wins by it's technobabbles of the week? The sad part of this is:the Trek methods are heavily relied on technology, unfortunately, SW is very much advanced ."Sure a phaser "may" not be able to do anything to a SW Destroyer, but what about a tachyon burst? Or an inverse polarion field? What about a ressonance burst from the main deflector?"
Also, the Engineers/Sci Officers/Ops couldn't work out a holy technobabble to wipe out the Dominion fleet in a jiffy, how could they work it out on SW?

Well apparently not all posts are so brainless. Like this one, isn't so bad (to counter the "deflector dish will [technobabble] the ISD"):
Kinnison wrote:Of course a ship's capabilities would exceed to a certain extent what is seen onscreen. One must make do with what data is available. Of course it is possible that the deflector dish can be modified into the potent weapon the multiverse has ever known, but it seems pretty unlikely. OTOH, maybe an ISD can open up like a giant clam, and Jesus is in there, and he'll turn the water in everyone's bodies onboard the Enterprise into wine, and they'll all die.
Stick to the known facts.

"The Long Walk" when a Judge (As in Judge Dredd) retires they go out into the nuclear irradiated wasteland with their infinte ammo pistols (Law givers can manufacture new bullets just add any material), and bring law and justice to the wasteland. (Read kill a shit load of mutants before dying)
Thus a long walk is an epic that may not be possible to complete (So far only Dredd has survived it....)

The sad thing is, these... people, have assimilated so much Trek, they can only resort to Treknobabble. Seriously, inverse polaron field? Resonance burst from the main deflector dish? Eeeesshhhhh!

I thought Dredd survived it because he went back to the Mega-City? Isn't that technically not finishing your long walk? The Yosemite Bear wrote: Thus a long walk is an epic that may not be possible to complete (So far only Dredd has survived it....)

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."
