Though sadly nowadays unless I'm feeling a bit spritely, I just go for getting car...upping stealing abilities...go to San Fran...beat game how I want to by going to places I've missed with Gauss Rifle, Plasma Rifle, Power Armor.

Some people just don't understand: I am the descendent of the Vault Dweller. I have a Gauss Pistol. I have lots of ammo. I have power armour. Stop getting in my way!
Vault City dared to stop me from entering the Vault.. Some BS about needing to be a Citizen.

Well I'm slowly progressing through Tactics, playing 1-3 missions a day. Made a well-rounded guy named Jack, a Senior Squire already (no Brown Noser perk either... I'm proud of myself

I started playing Fallout 2 again, after I loaded it up onto my old computer at my parent's house. I thought I'd play it differently than how Yagami (yeah, I reuse names a bit) teamed up with Vic and Sulik and generally headed East, helping out a farm or two, blowing up a septic tank and covering half a town in shit, and ending up in Vault City attempting to get into the vault.
So I made someone similar to myself (3 Strength and Endurance, 6 luck and charisma, 8 dexterity and intelligence, and 7 agility. Fast shot and Small Frame traits. I tagged Small guns, Stealth, and Barter), and after checking out Klamath and passig through the Den (didn't have enough cash to even begin helping Vic), I said to myself "hey Self, why bother looking around here when the Vault Dweller was from the South?"
So I spent almost three weeks heading generally South, then about another week East. To make a long story short (and avoid spoilers for anyone just starting Fallout 2), I found a town where I took a caravan to a city where I found the location of 2 vaults. I soon found a GECK around there, and then I went west and along the coastline to get some stuff from a military base. I can't believe I not only walked right in and grabbed a Plasma Rifle and Power Armor out of a locker, but got the special blueprints and access key by simply asking for them! I did have to make 3 saves in order to get through the wastelands without being taken out by partols and mutant Floaters, though.
Either 90 Stealth, 60 Speech, and 8 Intelligence pays off, or paramilitary organizations of the 2240s have no security whatsoever. On the downside, I'm now back to playing the last half of the game with the almost exact same equipment that I got both of my current Fallout 1 characters; I even tagged Energy weapons to boost the stat up to 100, just like them (don't know if Tonberi was at lvl 12 to get the Tag Perk before the end, though. For a while he just had the last two areas to tackle at level 6, so I tried sending him into the military base with just Brotherhood Armor and an Assault Rifle. He couldn't continue his cowboy approach against mutants untill he found Power Armor and started using the mutants' miniguns and plasma weapons). Like Chosen One, like Vault Dweller, I guess.
