"As you wish." Zeong tensed himself, then relaxed again, letting steam flow from his joints. Then, he held his arm out, fist closed. With a roar, the forearm detatched and shot towards Alyrium. The mage started to dodge, but the arm flew over his shoulder.

Faster than the human eye could follow, the arm changed direction and zipped back towards Zeong, passing on Alyrium's opposite side. Then, it changed directions AGAIN, following it's original course. Alyrium breifly wondered what the hell Zeong was doing, then it happened.

The steel cord that attached Zeong's forearm to his upper arm, so thin it was near-invisible, contracted around the mage's throat. The cord dug into Alyrium's flesh as Zeong's forearm applied all it's thrust. Zeong also thrusted in the opposite direction, pulling the cord ever tighter.

*Thanks to my greater iron guard spell(posted earlier, what do you think a spell like that does?), the cord simply passes through me harmlessly*

Zeong cursed. Then. he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Back off, Zeong," Gyan said. "I'll take him."

Gyan stepped forward and drew his enhanced beamsaber, but did not light it.

Two lightsabers, eh? Gyan thought. OK then, I'll just fight him like a Gelgoog.

Gyan hit the switch on his own saber. The golden blade lit, grew, and expanded until it was twice as wide and nearly six inches longer than a standard saber.

"Let's go." Gyan braced himself, then charged.

Gyan wasn't fool enough to sit still when an enemy attacked. He hit his boosters and launched into the air just as the sabers touched him. Quickly checking himself, he found only cosmetic damage.

"Not bad, you're pretty quick," he said. "But can you dodge this?" Gyan brought his shield arm around and fired a needle missile. The sharp projectile flew in towards the mage, but then changed course and drove itself into the handle of one of the lightsabers. Once firmly lodged, the needle missile exploded, doing little damage to Alyrium himself, but completely destroying the saber.

Drops of the acid hit Gyan and wisps of smoke rose as his paint was slowly burned away, revealing the shiny gray of his frame. "Acid?" he snorted. "What do you think acid's going to do to ultrasteel?"

He slowly floated to the ground. "And as to your other saber..." Gyan slowly stode over to where Zeong's saber had landed. Picking it up in his free hand, he ignited the crimson blade. Now he too held a saber in each hand, plus the shield attached to his forearm. "Bring it on, snakeman."

*Good thing the hide bombs didn't go off,* Gyan thought as he looked at the puddle of melted steel. Gyan changed his stance, facing the mage directly, sabers out at 45-degree angles. Exploding into motion, Gyan whirled forward like a tornado, blades sweeping over the ground.

"You want an aerial battle? You're on!" Gyan hit his thrusters and quickly closed the gap between him and Alyrium, slamming his sabers against the mage's, forcing him back towards the ground.

LET GO OF ME!*at this a wave of concussive force hurls Gyan back, as he flies back, Alyrium swipes at his thrustrs, damaging one* It appears as if this will be rther difficult...oh well

Gyan let the mysterious force push him back, back, and farther back, until his feet made contact with a rock outcropping. Gyan bent his knees, curled into a ball, and pushed off like a diver on a block, hurling himself back towards Alyrium. Just as he reached the mage, Gyan untucked and lashed out, slamming his elbow into the top of the mage's head. *Than should stun him, Gyan thought smugly.* Without waiting to see the mage's reaction, Gyan quickly backed out of range before the Alyrium could retaliate.

I see you failed to learn from your predecessor. Yur physical attacks will ot touch me, as I have a greater ironguard spell up, and you just so happen to be made of metal.

Gyan shrugged. "So be it." Then, he casually tossed Zeong's saber at the lower body of the snakeman. Before Alyrium could knock it out of the way, the saber sliced into him, nearly cutting him compeletely in two.

AGHHHHH!

*Alyrium falls to the ground, the saber having cauterized the wound...unable to hold the altered form, he transforms back to human form, reparing any damage in the process*

Now THAT was painful...I have not had this knind of a chalenf n some time...*picks up Zeongs saber, and throws it at Gyan, sheering off his leg before he could react*

"SHIT!" Gyan activated his thrusters before he could fall over. "Not bad, not bad at all, but you haven't stopped me." Gyan rose higher into the air. "You've simply changed the direction I'm coming from."

Gyan suddenly reholstered his beam saber. "LIEUTENANT!" he snapped at the nearest Zaku. "Beam lance!" The Zaku nodded and tossed Gyan a new weapon. The long pole ended in a lance similar to the jousting weapons of the dark ages. Gyan pressed a button, and a silver blade ignited at the end of the lance. "Now this, this is my favorite dueling weapon. Shall we continue?"

This could get...interesting*casts a few quicks spells to increase his reflexes...so he doesnt get chopped in half again*

Let me make my own weapon more..suitable*puts his light sabes together, ad turns a few dials...extendng the length of the blades to 8 ft each*

This should but us about on par with each other.

Here you go.

Gyan spun the beam lance before him, creating a vortex of gold light. Then he set himself and flew at the mage. Sparks flew as lance met sword. Gyan did a midair flip and came back down to Earth, balancing easily on his remaining leg.

"Not bad, you're pretty quick."

Seeing as how my survival requires quick reflexes...yes. Even spellcasting requires them to keep yourself from screwing up...

Alyrium leaps forward loosing a furry of blows that sends his opponent hipping back

Gyan leaped away from the flurry of the mage's blows. He's nearly as fast and strong as I am, but he has the better weapon and I can't even lay a finger on him. The scales are definately tilted in his favor, but I might yet beat him, if I keep my concentration.

Gyan mentally cursed his lack of longe-range weapony. All his missiles, all his mines had been in his shield, and the mage had destroyed it. If the beam lance failed to defeat the mage, Gyan would have to concede.

But for now... A few jabs with the lance drove Alyrium back, and Gyan suddenly boosted into the air, flying away from the mage, putting himself in front of the sun.

"All right, mage. I'd recommend you prepare yourself for this one!"

*Alyrium sets himself for defense, and casts a few spels on himself, one frmng a formhuggng forcefield(epic mage armor) the other to protect im from energy weapons and attacks(energy buffer) and the other to increase his reflexes even further(further metamagiced cat's grace)*

Gyan held the laugh. He fell for it! Activating his comm system, he signaled the Zeonic forces un upper orbit. His message was simple: ACTIVATE THE SOLAR RAY.

The Zakus that had accompainied Gyan beat a hasty retreat as high above the Earth, a massive cylinder that had once been a space colony turned towards the mage's coordinates. The gigantic mirrors installed aboard Zeon's Solar Ray caught the sun's light and redirected it, focusing it on Alyrium's position.

Within a split second, grass whithered and caught fire. Rivers evaporated. The intense heat and light blinded any animals nearby and cooked them where they stood. The rocks themselves began to soften.

And at ground zero were Alyrium and Gyan. Gyan's heavy ultrasteel armor protected him from the power of the Solar Ray, but Alyrium's protection was sorely lacking. All the energy buffers and reflex enhancers could not defend him from simple heat and light. And in the air above him, Gyan shined like a star descending towards Earth. Bereft of paint and shined by the acid attack, Gyan's armor caught the light and reflected it, turning him into a massive beacon of light, although it was notihng to the shining hole of white light emanating from the sky.
