Direction of this forum?

Post by Ubiquitous »

Do you think that this webforum will have a major change of direction any time soon, e.g. an influx of new members, merger, disaster etc.? I ask because I have been a member for around 9 months now, and the forum has changed very little; new forums are usually changing rapidly when they first start, yet this place seams to be very 'stable' in its outlook.

I've only been here three months, and in that time we've had a minor influx of trolls, and the addition of two new forums and one new usergroup. That seems like a lot to me, but obviously I have nothing to compare it to...

Considering a large portion of the members are ASVSers who know each other already.... no, I doubt there will be anything drastic to change.

Doesn't seem too likely. The forum is owned by one person, Mr Wong. While there are always new members, the long-term members have stuck around since the begining and are not to likely to leave any time soon.

edit: clumsy fingers...

I've been here since the first week. There have been a lot of changes concerning the way this is set up (No Fanfic forum when it started, no Hall of Shame, etc.). But I don't see any real forum threatening changes coming.

There might be large influxes of trolls, like what happened with the WCotC people, the EF morons, etc., but I'm sure nothing drastic is going to happen. In case we get hacked, we have backup forums, so I'm sure the only thing that will stop the forum is a lack of interest, and I don't see that heppening.

So long as the long time members stay here, I don't see it changing.

Been here since the first dang week, nothings changed. Couple new forums (like fanfics - STARCROSSED OWNS! and Gaming, TGODs YAY!!!), couple new user groups (of which I belong to none) but as long as the old-timers stick around the gist of the website will always be the same:

"Get[ting] your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid people."

And anal sex!

What? I couldn't resist! :P

The purple guy would probably make a better assasin. Can't say I've ever employed anyonepurplebefore, but at least he isn't fucking nuts for hamburgers.

Doesn't he like shakes or something?

I don't think they're big enough to hold guns, let alone pull the trigger. Do they even have hands? They are good at hiding in bushes and stealing shit though.

I still would go for the purple guy. What's his name? Rufus or something...

EDIT: That's right Grimace! C'mon his name is a synonym for a frown. Pure evil!

Juicer? who the fuck is that? I've seen plenty of McDonalds commercials in my time, if there was a Juicer I'd remember it.

Or not.

A juicer is a chemically pumped up super soldier. See Rifts for info.

This forum is a bit unusual as probably the majority of denziens are veterans of either Spacebattles (not as a big a percentage of them as in the earlier days, I don't think) or ASVS. And Mike has come up with a pretty good system for letting the board police itself without moderators going on power trips. The rules are strict where they need to be and nowhere else. Humiliation is the standard punishment for being an ass instead of banning. And there's a lot of really smart people on this board, so that's probably helpful in keeping away idiot newbies who can ruin forums.
