I just had a great 5 day weekend with my GF at her cottage.
I come home to find my mum has trashed my computer, so I wont be on that much, only at lunch at school.

Well, when Windows loads, I get an error screen that says windows will shut down because of an error in sound_boot_volume, with suggestions that I should remove new programsand such. Problem is, I can't even get to bloody windows. This is XP too.

Depends it is possible to keep a windows system stable and running.

Unix flawors is inherently more stable and less prone to crashes I am not arguing against that.

But my current XP installation is running fine for 1½ year now.

BTW if you have xp use the syetem restore if anything messes up. It's a life saver :D
