It's not a joke. It may well be brilliant. It's the NAACP, after all, that's arguing that blacks aren't responsible enough to own firearms (oh, that's not how they word it, but that's definitely the message). The NAACP can do nothng but sit and suck shit here--if they bitch the store owner is being racist, their own arguments get thrown back in their faces. This is, however, patently illegal (if real). The Civil Rights Act plainly forbids this, so an individual black gun purchaser could sue him and win easily.

It seems like a really good way to honk of the NAACP. If they want to sue over gun sales why not cut them off entirely? It seems a reasonable protest to me.

What exactly could a responsible member of the gun industry do? According to the the NAACP they should use serial number tracking and "cut off" dealers who end up with too many guns used in crimes.

Okay so let me get this straight your "solution" is to take business owners who have NOT been charged with any crime and to ruin their business on SUSPICION because too many guns have been used in crimes after they sold them? How about, I dunno, having the STATE prove that they don't deserve the LICENCE required to be a firearms dealer?

Of course I'm wondering what load of crap they intend to use to prove that cutting down the number of "bad dealers" would actually make handgun violence proportionate. If they pull X guns off the street why exactly won't we seem proportional decreases in gun crime.

This could be a brilliant maneouver, they really aught to get a black NRA member to take the ban to court and go for QUICK judgement (seeing as absolutely nothing is contested factually and no real damages are being sought) saying that disproportionate harm is NOT grounds for liability.

The NAACP is sueing gun manufacturers for damages incurred on African Americans as a result of handgun violence in Black neighborhoods.
As a result, the gun manufacturers tell distrubutors not to sell handguns to African-Americans as a stipulation in the pending lawsuit.
African-Americans cannot buy guns because of the NAACP.
The NAACP took away the second-amendment for all African-Americans.

While it's a clever end run legaly at the gun manufacturers, it at the same time basically says that blacks are to violent to be able to handle fire arms responsibly.
