I like the original look of the Borg better

Superman wrote:KMART, you said that the proof of the Borg pussification could be seen with what happened with Hugh? Bullshit. Do you not get it? Those were a break off or rogue Borg. They had nothing to do with the collective. They were simply used as the villains of the week. They could do whatever they wanted with the "Hugh Borg" because, despite their appearance, they were not Borg.

Personifying the borg WAS the pussification, and that starts with how the crew responds to the little lost drone.

If you go to the same well too often, you use up what it has. The borg should have been used less, to keep the menace. Putting a human face on the inhuman is absolutely trek mode tradition, but it was wrong in terms of drama to do it with the borg in particular.

They deliberately tried to make Hugh "cuter" in appearance than the other Borg seen previously, but I stand by what I said about their appearance vs. the "First Contact Zombies."

I have only seen Voyager up to season 3, episode 21, so I can't really comment much on those, other than by screenshots people have posted.

A similar thing happened in George Romero's "zombie" trilogy.. they start out making the zombies heartless killers, then they start to try to make you feel sorry for them. Of course, even then, they at least make the "little lost" zombie ugly and potentially threatening, not a cute little puppy.. ; p

The Borg's "slowness" in TNG seemed more due to their gross arrogance than to actual tactical defects. Of course in later shows, it seems that in fact they are incapable of learning to fight any better than zombies from Dawn of the Dead...

Then again, I take that back, the Zombies in Dawn of the Dead showed bits of intelligence, using tools as bludgeons and such. In Day of the Dead a zombie (a soldier in life) even remembered how to use a hand gun. heh

Again, originally this was not the case with the Borg. They were not just arrogant idiots. In "Q Who," a single Borg transported into the ship to examine the Enterprise's capabilities BEFORE they engaged it in combat. When they determined that they were incapable of withstanding their attacks, they ordered the Enterprise to surrender.

Yeah but beaming people aboard was a pretty ballsy thing to do before any contact was established.

What if they had gotten in (maybe if E-D had been more powerful they wouldn't have gotten in) and found out the ship was incredibly superior to them, they would have regretted sending drones in to invade their space....
