Good. I've been hoping we'd see Chewie. Now all we need is the surface of Alderaan, the demise of JarJar and a BDZ.

If Chewies there will we see Solo freeing him, or indeed Solo as a Bridge Officer in the Imperial Fleet. Maybe both.

Would this be in any conflict with the EU?

Remember that wookies have more than twice the normal lifespan of a human (IIRC). Therefore, it's not outlandish to have Chewie in episode 3, while Solo would probably be an infant or a kid at this point.

I'm just hoping that Lucas won't overplay Chewie's role in things, as he's done with some certain other characters...

If they go with the actual costume, then they're going to have to rebuild it from scratch; the original Chewie costume is shot to hell by now, and is only a museum piece.

How could they? Peter Mayhew (the guy who played Chewie in the suit, not the voice) is casted for the role. :D

Well, they could fit Mayhew up with a motion-tracking suit...

That's true....but IMO, they're putting him in the hairy suit. :P

Actually, Han would be an older teen.

Han Solo at time of Ep IV ~ 29yrs old

Ep III approx 18-20yrs before Ep IV

QED: Solo would only be 9-11yr of age ------ no need to see Han anyways, Ep III has enough to wrap up.

Be nice to see Chewie though :)

What the hell role will Chewie play? I don't get it...he can't know of Obi-Wan, and Obi-Wan can't know of him, or the cantina scene won't make sense.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Maybe he'll only be interacting with Anakin or Padme.

Probably just a very very minor role.

But if GL makes him CG there will be blood flowing quite freely...

Well, Chewie can't be a slave yet, there isn't any Empire, so he won't know Han.

I don't know how he can interact with any of the major characters though. Is it common knowledge that Anakin is Vader? If so, than you'd think Chewie would have said something about it in the OT.

Now everyone knows Padme, she's a senator and all; even twenty years later in ROTJ Luke mentions Leia's "real" mother (Padme) in the Ewok village. So is it common knowledge that Padme is Luke's mom? If so, Chewie would have definately mentioned it in the OT.

The only people I could see him meeting otherwise would be the droids.

Chewie's history does not really become detailed until Han frees him.

That's years later, so it is of no concern.

If you think back to the first time we meet Chewie in ANH, in the cantina, there's no particular reason why Chewie and Kenobi shouldn't know each other. Ok, they don't hug like old friends and chat about old times, but they do seem to hit it off pretty damn quickly. If Chewie didn't know Kenobi, you'd sorta expect him to back off pretty quick after seeing the old man slice and dice those two thugs, rather than taking him to Solo.

It would also explain why Han was manuvered into taking them on.

I'm gonna wager its a minor role, like a senator, or piloting Kenobi somewhere (not on the Falcon, obviously). I doubt that they'd just give him a cameo in the background, though.

I think it would just be cheaper remaking a hairy suit than doing it CGI.
