He probably placed that limit on himself or the owner of his account placed that limit.Nathan F wrote:Actually, I do know a guy who has had a 3 hour limit per day put on him...Kamakazie Sith wrote:Gandalf wrote:I used to be with AOL, between myself and my sister we spent about 5-8 hours online every day, anyway, one day, we get a letter from AOL saying were now limited to 40 minutes online every day, we made a nice angry call and 40 minutes later I had a new ISP.
Sounds like a fake letter.....but I could be wrong. I just can't imagine why AOL would do that.....
I mean in my 3 years of working at AOL we never sent any letters like that, in fact we were told to encourage people to come online.

As a matter of fact...Einhander Sn0m4n wrote:Why hollowpoints? An FMJ will be just as effective on that type of target, and cost much less. Heh, I bought a box of 6.5 Swedish JHP not long ago for 7 bucks at a gun show. Sellier and Bellot, not top of the line, but a decent brand. Ammo is somewhat cheap around here. Plus, I reload, which makes it much cheaper, and reloaded ammo can be customized to your uses and preferences.

And Comcast is one of the affected ISPs, according to the reports. If you're using the SMTP server that Comcast (should) provide, you shouldn't have any trouble (although I think they're blocking Verizon's official SMTP servers).MKSheppard wrote:What the fuck? I'm cable!

Anyone know how easy it is to get past those blocking systems? I have heard it is easy as cake.

Yeah... don't use the AOL browser, use Mozilla.Nathan F wrote:Anyone know how easy it is to get past those blocking systems? I have heard it is easy as cake.
That should do it, since I don't believe AOL's proxies do the filtering (which would be necessary for complete blocking).

This reminds me of the Onion article where Ted Turner travels back in time to prevent the merger. I couldn't be happier if that actually happened.

AOL's priority is to get new members, you would be shocked at how low the priority of support is for current members. When I worked in the password department the average wait time was an hour long, while potential new members calling in were automatically shifted to the front of the wait list.

It wasn't a letter in the sense that I wrote, it came as a popup notice when we logged in, we rang the company and they confirmed it.Kamakazie Sith wrote:Gandalf wrote:I used to be with AOL, between myself and my sister we spent about 5-8 hours online every day, anyway, one day, we get a letter from AOL saying were now limited to 40 minutes online every day, we made a nice angry call and 40 minutes later I had a new ISP.

Were you paying for "unlimited" access at the time? LMAO, AOL is truly ran by monkeys.....I just can't believe they would do something like that. I thought that kind of stupidity was beyond even them........

I should have clarified this. If you have an email server on a DHCP lease, your emails get blocked. Not if you have an email address from an ISP and your computer is assigned a DHCP lease.phongn wrote:More specifically, they're blocking anyone on a DHCP lease, even static leases, so this affects certain cable users as well.
I use AOL since I started on the Internet back in 94. I have no real complaints about them and don't understand some of the vitrol but then again I am not a uber internet guy, I hardly know what an ISP is so I'm not one to gauge I guess.
